History does not record the Earl in question. However, it is a pretty little water and yesterday it was running quite well after some overnight rain.

Lucky t had stopped for a while, as if it had went straight past it would have been under cloud, but it`s short delay was enough to allow the sun to come back out., the opposite of hat usually happens!

Another one from our amazing trip to Banff trip last month. This was a shot of Earls Kitchen + Bar taken from the Old Spaghetti Factory (Our choice for dinner that night). I thought it was fun to see a cook in the kitchen on the second floor of Earl's prepping the nights meal.

For a while now, I've been contributing photos to Google Maps.

It's a nice diversion from Charger only photos and a fun outlet for creativity. Although I haven't made it a priority to include my Charger in the photos, somehow the car has found its way into a few of my Spokane photos (imagine that).

A number of my photos have had over half a million views each which is pretty neat. It depends greatly on the location or business you add the photo to and also who's searching Google. I can't control it so I just enjoy it when one goes crazy. So, in no particular order, here are some of the photos I've uploaded to Google Maps over the last two years.

Taken with my cell phone.

(The best camera you have is the one you are carrying.)

Club premises. Dated 1883. Ashlar, painted on front of ground floor. Roof concealed behind parapet appears to have clerestory lights to central span. Plan not investigated - entrance to right to front. Italiante style. Exterior: 3 storeys and basement. Symmetrical 4-bay front. The ground floor has rusticated round-headed doorway to right with human mask in the keystone. Panelled double doors and fanlight and 3 windows to left, the bays divided by pilasters with large fluted consoles to the dentilled cornice above which supports a balcony with an ornate wrought iron balustrade to first floor. The first and second storey has 1:2:1 bay front with a moulded string course at second floor level breaking forward around the pilasters which divide the bays; and crowned by a dentilled cornice with a balustraded parapet and pedimental centrepiece, the tympanum of the pediment carved in stone with 2 shields surrounded by trailing foilage. The tall first floor windows are round-headed with moulded architraves, keystones and imposts. The ground and second floor windows are C19 sashes without glazing bars and the first floor are French casements. The Centre pier between the first floor windows has a stone inscribed "This stone was laid February 9th 1983 by ......" (view of name obscured by balustrade). Interior: not inspected but might contain some of the club fixtures and other original features. According to Kelly's Directory 1927 this was the premises of the Mid-Kent Conservative Club.

ConocoPhillips Humber Oil Refinery at Killingholme has its own industrial shunter, which is used to shunt tank wagons in preparation for the two daily trains to Kingsbury.

Named Earl of Yarborough, it is seen shunting a rake of bogie tanks on 7th August 2015.

It's been super crazy here as far as the wind goes.

The backdrop I used for this photo is supposed to be an authentic Civil War era backdrop. I've had the backdrop for nearly two years, and this was my first time using it. It is huge, it is about 10' wide, and probably 25-30' long.

Looks like the fireman is working hard as Tyseley's No. 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' makes a spirited departure from Derby with Vintage Trains 'Shakespeare express', 1Z29 1034 to Stratford-upon-Avon. The decision to start the train at Derby appears to have paid off for Vintage Trains, as the train looked to be well loaded on departure from Derby. Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of 'tea'

Earl Grey tea is a tea blend which has been flavoured with oil of bergamot. The rind's fragrant oil is added to black tea to give Earl Grey its unique taste.

Traditionally, Earl Grey was made from black teas such as Chinese keemun, and therefore intended to be served without milk.

However, tea companies have since begun to offer Earl Grey made from stronger teas such as Ceylons, which are better suited to the addition of milk or cream. Some blend the tea with lapsang souchong tea which lends a smoky character. Other varieties have been introduced as well, such as green or oolong. (Wikipedia)

Charles Grey, the Second Earl Grey (1764-1845). Also known as Viscount Howick, the Second Earl Grey was the UK Prime Minister from November 1830 to July 1834.

Legend has it that the Earl saved the life of a Chinese man’s son while aboard an envoy to China. As a reward, the Mandarin man gifted Charles Grey with the infamous bergamot tea recipe. And the rest, as they say, is history.

It’s the most convenient option given his name, position, and the date of his stewardship. However, his involvement is a bit of a, well, grey area – excuse the pun.

Apparently, the Earl liked the tea so much that he asked his tea dealer (unnamed) to recreate it in his name. And thus, Earl Grey tea, as we know it, was born.

But, there’s little to no evidence to back up this claim. Not to mention that it’s highly unlikely that the Earl ever visited China. After all, the two countries weren’t on the best of terms.

Then there’s the bergamot fruit itself, which is primarily grown in the province of Reggio di Calabria in Italy, not China!

There’s also some debate as to whether this Chinese Mandarin man was a nobleman, dignitary, or teamaker. Given the other holes in this story, however, I guess it doesn’t entirely matter.

Other contradictory accounts of the story exist. Some claiming it was, in fact, one of the Earl’s employees. Who, while in service to the Earl, did the good deed. Ergo, it was the Earl by proxy.

This version of events is a little more plausible. And, it was later backed up by one of the Earl’s ancestors in a 1994 interview with the Daily Telegraph. Albeit more of an anecdote than a reliable history of Earl Grey tea with documents to back it up. (My Earl Grey)
