Dynamic Spaces by Urbanphoto2011

My idea was to capture the dynamic space of a tourist site like the Space

Needle. Every day, many people visit this site and pass through these front

doors but the space is unchanged. I wanted to show this movement in my photo

by getting a wider shot of the entrance to show the large groups of people

and cars passing through, but since it was rainy I was limited in terms of

where I could stand. I tried to capture the sense of people leaving and

entering the building.

Here I am repairing a road as a NATO convoy passes me on the side road I made. I was a part of Operation Dynamic Mix in the early summer of 2002. Along with keeping the roads and supply lines open and accessible for NATO forces, I was tasked with constructing a runway out of a field in the Spanish countryside that an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) could land on. The first generation drones were smaller and had plastic-ish wheels that up till then, could not land on earthen airfields. They would bounce and flip. I was given a few days and was allowed to pick my equipment and crew. The drones were flown by a Marine Corps unit named, VMU-2.
