A Grand Trunk Western GP40-2 and a CN GMD-1 work Sarnia Yard on a windy and chilly May afternoon. The season may have been spring, but it felt a bit more like winter standing on this overpass. 6420 was one of a handful of GTW-painted GP40-2s still in service. As of early 2024, it lives on. The GMD-1 model experienced a bit of a revival starting in late 2018 but all have since been retired by Canadian National.

Mono-printed resist and discharge dyed silk - 63cm x 63cm
This is one of several pieces that have been created through a series of processes designed to help me 'get out of my own way' with work aligned more to feelings and moods which arise as marks are made. Spontaneous responses backed up with confident experimentation.
I didn't care too much for this piece in it's earlier stages as the mono-printed ink was heavy and lacked the dynamic textures that had been created on the other pieces, but later, as the work developed, the darkness became a core feature in itself.
As with all abstract work, interpretations are personal to the viewer.

At dawn, sunlight shines down Park Central West casting long shadows from the objects along the sidewalk.

This was my first attempt at a 10 image tall/wide panorama to get much more of the sky into the scene.

"Dynamic Zion"
Zion National Park, Utah, USA
Most often the Zion Narrows are captured with sunlight glowing around each corner; however during my visit overcast skies prevailed providing an opportunity to focus on even lighting with cooler tones in the canyon. And doubly nice was our timing in capturing autumn. A colleague and I dressed ourselves in dry suits, and wandered up the river. I spent hours waiting for both the crowds to disappear and the wind to provide a light breeze which made the leaves glitter in a painterly-like pose. The dynamics of the scene, from deep shadows, to cool highlights, made for perfection.

The Marina in Douglas is well supported with few empty places. The quayside has had a major facelift over the past few years and is now largely pedestrianised with sitting areas.
A pair of KCS four axle EMD's, a non-dynamic brake equipped GP38-2 still wearing worn out battleship gray paint and a GP40-3 dressed in the Belle scheme, are assigned to "Run 1" shoving down the North Main at Olive St as they finish doubling up an outbound train at the west end of CPKC's Knoche Yard.
The GP38-2 began its life on the Boston & Maine while the GP40-3 started out on the Frisco as a straight GP40. 2/18/24.

After completing their drill moves at Track 8 and Chefler Foods within PC Yard, the NYSW WS-2 continues east with DL M420W 3560 and NYSW SD40-2 3024. The 3560 is on lease to the Susquehanna to combat a power shortage on the railroad.
This stunning Pagoda is one of two that jet out into the lake at the Chinese Gardens (also known as Jurong Gardens) in Singapore. During the day, the Pagodas are quite beautiful, but the best time to photograph them are at sunset. The gardens is one of my favorite place in Singapore and would make it a point to visit there with every trip.
