Unlike the fairy tale this I-95 Energy/Resource Recovery Facility has, in reality, the ability to turn waste into gold. It processes some 3000 tons of trash a day. Their output is almost beyond belief, i.e. 80 megawatts of renewable energy – enough energy to meet the needs of over 80,000 homes.
But being a Stephen King fan I saw this scene in terms of his fantastical story, "The Langoliers". If you'll forgive a horrible pun, here's a quote that takes a huge bite out of the story line:
"We know what happens to today when it becomes yesterday. It waits for them. It waits for them, the timekeepers of eternity. Always following them behind, cleaning up the mess in the most efficient way possible: by eating it!."
A Hunagarian Air Force SAAB Gripen peform a high altitude 'dump and burn' where the aircraft dumps raw fuel which is then ignited by the hot exhaust gasses. First time I've seen one of these performed at an airshow
Dump car from mobile exhibition of the Museum "Mosgortrans". All vehicles are serviceable and on the go.
This is a dump rake, used for making hay. The horses would pull it until the rake was full of grass, then the driver of the horses would lift it to "dump" the hay. The goal was to have all the dumps lined up in a straight line, so when they picked it up it was easy.

Massive dump truck making it's way down Gardiner Expressway. Very much prefer to be up top snapping a pic than on the road next to it.

Not normally utilized for parking, the space is outside of the unit boundary designation so vehicular traffic would be allowed. At this time, access to another operating unit off to the left was restricted due to maintenance activity, necessitating parking in areas such as this.
Happy Truck Thursday!
It is always so annoying to come across rubbish that has been dumped ... I honestly don't understand how people can do this!
You will notice that some of the wood has previously been set alight and yet more rubbish has been thrown amongst that!

For many many years, this was an open trash dump right on the shore of Monterey Bay. Locals got tired of the vermin and covered the dump with sand. Engineers pointed out that the ocean would pretty shortly wash the buried trash out to sea, so the large buried pile was excavated and reburied a bit farther from the waters edge. When it was reburied the rate of coastal erosion was calculated incorrectly. The reburied dump will erode out in the next few decades. There is still a deep pit next to this bluff marking the excavation, and thousands of shards of glass slowly being rounded by waves and sand and wind cover the ground, a very popular area with the beach glass collectors.
Just a few years ago an effort was made to restore the native dune ecosystem. The animals and the plants are doing well. A trail has been made for hikers and bikers to keep them off the delicate bits. And the knobby dune on the left in this shot (actually a limestone outcropping and the highest point on this stretch of the coastline) is reserved for parasailors to launch from.

In addition to deepening the shadow side of the truck and lifting off some paint at the edge of the doorway, I brought a little darker value down to the bottom.
Thanks Peter for corroborating my own feelings
I didn't notice the dropping until I got to the editing stage, looks like this magpie really didn't like me taking a picture of it.

More than 3100 people turned out for the No Kings 2.0 Rally in Vero Beach, Florida on October 18th, 2025. One of over 2,700 demonstrations that were held, with at least one protest in every state, and several taking place in other countries in support. This widespread participation highlighted the collective sentiment against fascism and the Trump Administration. Resist!
