I took a class at DragonFly Quilting in Ottawa taught by Fran O'Neil to create this quilt top. Her patterns can be found on her website here: www.fransquilting.com/patterns.htm

A very challenging exercise in colour.

Emerson Gray's colours for this quarter of the 3x6 bee were blue, gray and aqua/turquoise. She asked for bright, cheery and spring-like colours. I always like working with aqua -- it's such a soothing colour.

I made this block using the tutorial here at the blog Needles and Spatula. It was very easy (no pinning required and lots of room for error.) The hardest part was deciding how to arrange the squares. I thought that this arrangment would work well with the wonkiness of the circles and was different from the usual. I loved the result so much that I now have a plan to make an entire quilt of blocks like these using cool-toned shot cottons.

I added 3 small borders to make the quilt more of the size I wanted. I was a little worried that the orange would take away from the blocks but I am still loving this quilt top...yay! Measures 63"x 63".
