They are getting ready to close this Catholic Grammar School in Meriden. St. Stan's has been around for a very long time, and was once the most populated parochial school in Meriden. I went to the St. Rose School, which was nearly as popular as St. Stans. It really is a shame to see the churches in my city have to close. We had so many, back when I was in grade school. This is on the corner of Akron and Olive Streets.

The magic of conformal mappings strikes again, this time in an unlikely place: the Mandelbrot set, the iconic image of fractals.
This is a quite impressive feat: there is a conformal mapping between the outside of the unit disk and the outside of the Mandelbrot set. The Hubbard-Douady potential can be constructed as the logarithm of the absolute value of this conformal mapping. In the case of this image I transformed the circle representing the two-headed eagle of Hessen in front of the Wiesbaden Rathaus into the Mandelbrot set.
I saw the idea of merging photos and the Mandelbrot set in this and this picture first.
While driving down Bunker Ave, I stopped at City Park, and took this picture through the park, of an old church on the other side.

I printed out the digital tree over my embossed raindrop background. I like how the printer ink didn't set over the embossing & gives the impression of snow falling. I enlarged the tree to run off the edges & color overlayed the tree to match the green & purple in Friday's color combo. I also added a dropshadow to give the tree dimension. TFL!

On a record breaking, coldest day of the year, since the early 1900's. I took this shot, while standing in -5 F temperatures, and had my Tamron Lens mounted to my K-x. I did very little post processing on this other than some clarity adjustment and a little white vignette and some sharpening.

Visiting my Western Mass. family this weekend. Spotted these sad little toys arranged at the side of the driveway as I was leaving - a reminder of last June's tornado damage. Houses and lives are being repaired and rebuilt but the surrounding landscape will not return to its' former forested beauty for decades - certainly not in my lifetime.

As I turned off of Old Colony Rd. and looked left, it nearly brought tears to my eyes to see out downtown being chopped to pieces, one building at a time. All in the name of improvement. I think it looks awful. This was such a beautiful, vibrant place in the past. In the 1950s, people were all over the place, and you could walk from store to store, for all your needs. Now, it's just a mess.
This image has been created in PS5 from my Frac Daddy shot, a fractalius conversion taken from my Millenium bridge Sunrise shot a while back. Just messing about really but i like it :D

Sitting on the fence does not have to be, feel and look all that bad. My response to having been accused of sitting on the fence.

These strange shadows my MacBook is showing sometimes around the windows of any applications. Is that the “power” of the integrated GPU?
Besides, Airport/Wireless LAN connection doesn’t work at my institute (128-bit WEP encrypted WLAN). Dozens of older iBooks, Powerbooks and other Notebooks work – while my Macbook Pro, Macbook and two other brand-new Macbooks won’t connect. Well done, Apple!

Yep....the title isn't the best...again....but I just couldn't think of one for this. Anyway....I was playing around with a pic of Belanah that my daughter's fiancee had taken recently (freakin amazing shot too!!! I want his camera) and a pic of fire I had taken last summer....I thought it turned out pretty good. I brought out the Etnies logo and the sole of the shoe, brought up the shine on the pole, and added a drop shadow (that I might remove, not sure, I think it might detract from the pic somewhat). Hope you like it!!!

I shot this pic when in Long Beach interviewing Bboy Easyroc for my film DROPSHADOWS, a breaking documentary.
Guiffrida Park in Meriden, CT is right next to Hunter Memorial Golf Course. It contains Crescent Lake, which is a huge, fresh water lake, that is protected. There is no swimming of fishing allowed in this Lake. There is a beautiful trail of which this picture is of, that goes around the body of water.

I bought myself a new Annual Pass for the new year, good for all the Busch Florida parks until 2010. (:
The Busch parks have been under a raincloud ever since their parent company Anheuser-Busch got bought out by Inbev, and I thought, why not just buy a new pass and visit before the parks change forever? It feels good to back in Busch parks like Seaworld, Busch Gardens, Aquatica.... there's nothing like those theme parks in the world, ever. They're just different from the Universal parks and Disney parks, although I like all of them as a whole. In the upcoming months, I'll be gradually be uploading more photos from those parks.
This photo was taken in front of Seaworld Orlando's huge christmas tree, I was looking reeeaaal dumb playing with the manual focus with my camera in one hand, and the pass in the other. I got a few stares, haha.
