I've sorely neglected the 52 week challenge group, sorry! Chris's Edinburgh night scene reminded me of some slightly tipsy driving shots from earlier this year (I wasn't the driver).
Freshly baked home made banana muffins, still warm as I was shooting this, with the aroma driving me crazy with hunger. I'm eating one as I now type this!
On my way back to Finland after driving up to Nordkapp, I stopped to stretch my legs and saw that the clouds were starting to clear, and there was a faint distant green. I threw on the snow shoes and started into the moonlit forest, when that distant green soon turned into an explosion of green all across the sky. I spent the next two hours running through the woods with my camera, looking up at the sky in awe. By the time the lights had started to die down, I was so exhausted I just laid there for a while in the snow before making the long walk back. It was the most peaceful quiet I have ever felt, the snow truly does absorb any little bit of sound, and there was nothing around to make sound.

There are over 150 curves between Silverton and Ouray. It is one of my top four drives I have ever done. It has huge dropoffs with no barriers.
I have driven over a 100 times and hope I will get back.
This is a close visual approximation of what it felt like driving home at 3AM after a show in Manhattan. I had taken the Merritt Parkway, then gotten off for gas..and got terribly lost in the Westport are, where they apparently don't believe in gaudy accoutrements such as streetlights. I felt like I was hallucinating, and saw eight deer and three turkeys on top of it all.
Driving past here on the way to the tree the light was fantastic on the far hills. Sadly by the time I got the car off the narrow road the light had changed and despite waiting , this was what I could get

From Charlotte's birthday party.... the snow came down much sooner than expected... it was beautiful snow... heavy and wet... great for making snowmen... but not driving in it...
This morning I see we got around 5-6 inches.... that is clinging to everything!! Later on we'll venture out and tackle digging out...
KCS 4671 takes the lead of CP 577 as it rides over the Crow River in Rockford, MN. This train had to make a big pickup of hoppers at Humboldt which killed enough time for the sun to come out of the clouds.
Passed my road test at Willmar last Friday. I can finally drive myself to railfan. When I heard about this train coming I got motivated to drive out further than what I have been able to bike to and thus was the result.
Ironically this was the day KCS said yes to accepting CP. We shall see what happens in the future...
Is it a flat tyre or a photo opportunity? Depends on your type. Two hundred miles on dirt road that day we really had to expect it. Exploring the outback in an outback :)
Another train with the loco at the wrong end. And not even a classic 'old' driving trailer either. The classic Ardez church shot, albeit rather poorly executed...

See?" he said, with an unholy amount of glee. "I hardly broke any laws at all. I should drive more often."
"No. Trust me, you shouldn't," Eve said. "Think of all the little old people and the children.

This one's for my baby who got her driving license yesterday :)))
A rite of passage for us here
Its quite the Big Deal :))
Actually a great driver, she was gunning for 0 mistakes on her test, but ended up with 2 ;))
I think thats pretty kick-ass, if you ask me :)
Even the guy who took her for the drive wrote "Great Drive!!" on her test
That's my over-achiever for ya!
Now she wants to drive to the beach :/ and I said, "NO!!" so someone is not very happy LOL
Have yourselves an awesome day, and don't be shy to say, "No!"
