This is certainly not the first time I tried to draw this dog, but by repeating the attempt, I'm getting closer and closer to my reference. After that, I want to go beyond the reference, transcend it, so to speak.
Keep drawing, especially if it's Drawing Day.

This is my first drawing for my art class, I could've fixed it up a bit more, but whatever. This drawing took me about 15 mins.
Last night we had clear skies with a setting crescent moon that quickly dipped behind the trees to the west. The milky way was visible once the moon was out of the way. Not a bad sky for where I live. I observed and drew a few objects until midnight before heading home. M71 is a globular cluster that is quite small and sparse as globulars go. It was debated back-and-forth for years whether it was a tight open cluster or a loose globular cluster. M71 sits in a nice star field that really accents its presences. It is a lovely object. Carrs Mill Park, Howard County, Maryland.

I saw a photo of Charlize Theron in my TV guide and decided to use it for a study sketch.
While it seems solid enough in quick passing, there are some things that could be better (as there always are). That is a good thing, because it means I'm still progressing.
The way I set up the sketch was different from what I did previously. I find tried to visualize the head as a block in perspective and tried to see it without the hairdo. Next, I set up the proportions of the features (where I made a mistake, by making the nose slightly too long), and corrected the initial outline of the head and neck accordingly. Finally, I added the hairdo and the shading on the face and neck, and made the background darker.
I need to practice this more often, because in the portrait class at the local community college, I often go wrong in the initial setup. I need to visualize and even pre-visualize before I concern myself with how it looks. Structure first, looks later. This requires discipline on my part, because some models are just too beautiful not to be in awe.
I don't want to follow a strict technique, but rather keep it loose, so my art doesn't become stiff and predictable. This means I will be slow at first, compared to those who follow some step-by-step tutorial, but once I've mastered my less procedural approach, I will get faster, no doubt, and blow the 1-2-3 artists out of the water.
One hopes, at least.

Even i have this publication such a long time i just saw this sketch with interest for the first time.
I uploaded this just because I am right know thinking about a private house for a client and i have this idea in mind from the beginning: A house is like a city with private spaces, half public spaces and public spaces. the bedrooms i would like to design in such a way that there will be at the corners ( 4 bedrooms the client likes to have) of the 1 floor house - like satelite cities. there should be in every orientation (east, west, south) half public open spaces where you can sit and work (regarding the sun moving during the day and the different views to the garden around the house). of course the center will be space where you get together and is divided in: kitchen, dining, living, libarary (the media space) and a courtyard in the center of it all.
More detailed this means:
the courtyard is like the market place, surrounded by a library, a cinema (the media room), the dining/kitchen area is the restaurant, the coffee bar; it's the space to talk; the living area might for me personally a space with a fire place and furniture to relax like a good wine bar, a coctail bar.
Most important always in my thoughts: there should be several ways to walk through this city, through this house.
In addition to alll this I do remind myself always to this phrase from FLW published 1928 in Architectural Record under the collective title "in the cause of Architecture".
The logic of the plan:
"a good plan is the beginning and the end.....its developmnent in all directions is inherrent - inevitable....There is more beauty in a fine groundplanthan in almost any of its ultimate consequences....T judge an architect one need only look at his ground plan. He is master there or never. Were all the elevations of the genuine buildings of the world last and the ground plan saved, each building would construct itself again. Because before the plan is a plan it is a concept on some creative mind. "

Yuki came over to Erikku's place to go out. Though they couldn't go anyway because Erikku transformed again. The poor guy felt to bad when she came over. So they watched a DVD and Yuki fell asleep on Erikku. Then Erikku starts thinking, "You deserve better than me...."
Well it may not be the comic but you can think of it as a side story. This image suddenly came to mind. Reminds me of the time an old girlfriend of mine came over and wanted to go out. Then we found a good movie playing on TV and she fell asleep on top of me, in actually the same position.
