Lunchtime life drawing session at work. 90 seconds, done with zen brush app on iPad (using a 1 pixel brush). I like the way the pen bleeds when i stop moving the stylus - it has a bit of a felt marker feel.
One of the last things my niece Nancy did was draw this picture on my nephew's hand. She died April 8, 2005 of a rare virus which caused a heart attack. She was 18.
British journalist. Specialist of the Middle East. First to interview Muammar Gaddafi after Operation El Dorado Canyon. Survived assassination attempt. Credited for saving the lives of 1,500 women and children from a compound besieged by Indonesian-backed forces. Won the 2000 Courage In Journalism award. Lost an eye in a bomb blast in Sri Lanka. Deaf in one ear.

A very rough tracing sketch where I had to invent many of the details -- like the odd eyes and nose --because I couldn't find them in the photo, which shows my rank beginner status in drawing and ignorance of anatomy. Even though this doesn't look quite right I've decided to show it anyway, for now, simply as another example so far of my nondoodling fumbling around with iPad art apps. I might replace it with an improved version or, more likely, just delete it in a few days. You can see why I often retreat to patterns or abstract forms that don't have to resemble anything accurately.
By the way, that glass of beer is just as big in the photograph.

Well... not the best one ever. I tried to sketchnote an acronym I use very often in lectures about project management: firts letter of "Lovely Principles Move Rugged Souls" means Learn, Practice, Master, Revise, Share.
I took soooo long time and the result is so-so. I'll use it anyway!
Went to an exhibit about fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa and couldn't resist drawing some of his fabulous clothes.

Alex gave me my card today, but I'm not allowed to open it until Sunday. After doing the drawing she opened the envelope again, to put in some candy. (Shhhh, I'm not supposed to know that.)
The girls on the envelope are Olivia, Alex, and me. Olivia is the one that is crying. According to Alex, that's because she got in trouble for not listening to me.
I can't wait to see what's inside the envelope.
The bottle of Port I bought at the Mooiberg Padstal. Trying to capture glass with Watercolors in my journal.
My main sketch of the fourth pose was done with sanguine conté on tan toned paper, with some darker tones added in bistre and highlights in white.
I think this was yet another 20 minute pose and once again i probably took about 15 minutes for this sketch.
