The 'cuticle soldiers' are looking to 'nail' people. The unfinished aspect to this drawing (based on a childhood composition) is intended to convey that these surreal figures are only partially able to manifest in our dimension. They are a bizarre trinity. The man in the foreground (I imagined) pretends not to be aware of the chest tears of the soldiers behind him. The figure bringing up the rear carries a match (the gift of fire)... Perhaps he is the Twilight Zone's version of Prometheus.

My little wooden rocking horse which has a special place on the kitchen cupboard. Strange how you really start to think about an object when you really look at it. As I was drawing the little horse I was thinking that this was once a tree and it inspired the words which I had written on the opposite page.
