I´m going to take part in an awesome exhibition in Hamburg, with some of my favourite artists (I´m really scared)... This are some drawings I did as an introduction, to prepare myself for the definitive one.

I never know what I'm going to draw when I sit down with my journal at night. And I always find it interesting when I start drawing and what comes out of my head...it's a secret to me. It's a connection between my mind and my hand and I just watch it with my eyes. I have no idea why I ended up drawing a "Forest Ranger" last night, but then, she was way to serious...so, a peace sign earring and a smirk fixed that! Happy Sunday!!! It's a great day to explore the forest...get out there!!

this is Mordecai Poindexter Hornblossom, named after the MH letters in his license plate number. He was my first car, and had his own membership in the Record Club of America and was invited to enroll in art school once (and of COURSE he got his own copy of the J C Whitney catalogue). When this was drawn, he had already been refurbished a bit (you can see the 1966 GTO bucket seats in the drawing, those were not original in a 4-door 1962 Impala). He met his demise late in 1975, sideswiped on the street in Chicago.

Apparently I had a little more time to write myself little reminder notes back in those days than I do now.....

This man seems to decorate a different pavement in Oxford each Sunday and I am glad to finally photograph him at work. Here he is outside Trinity College, on the Broad.

Exercise # 6 in Pen & Ink Sketching by Frank J. Lohan

12/23/13

Me, in the old Titanic drawing room.

Here's #11 transcribed and tightened up on the big sheet. It's a milestone as this is the first drawing to be horizontally neighbouring another.

Quite a challenge this one - Besides it being winter here, I'm really scraping the bottom as far as suitable scenes go. Suitable scenes are ones that have a nice progression of compositional elements and therefore a nice variety of shapes. The challenge now is to find those that are accessible. Accessible means less than an hours walk from where I park.

It's mid-winter now... cold in the forest. This spot had a bit of sun, but the location of #12 is in a ravine with no sun. It's a struggle to keep warm fingers there after 3 hrs.

I'm resisting the suggestion to take photos still - I think I might use it as assistance later on, but I'm still finding my way around the shapes, and getting lost in the branches... I think once I've earned my wings in that department I might be open to a bit of photo ref - especially if studies go over the 6 hr mark on site.

I found a new path down to the creek that's not too far from the car... a bit of creek that I'd thought was previously accessible only with wading... Not been fully down that track yet, so I'm excited to get back and explore that option.

Summer will be a bit easier I think... plus making faster drawings would help!

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

The cathedral brings back memories of being child, when I first entered the cathedral as a youngster the colours that surrounded me inside were magnificant. I wanted to bring the colour aspect into the picture but in different way so i used my photography to do this.

Created using a Drawing Pen and combined digitally with a photograph

This one will be a gift for a friend. I hope she likes it.... Not finished yet..... pencil on paper

This drawing shows the arrangement of the rotating parts of a steam turbine generator train. This turbine is unusual because the condenser is an axial flow type, and the generator sits on the turbine's upstream side instead of its downstream side. Many important support systems are not shown which make up the "balance of plant" or BOP equipment.
