Our Lady of LaSalette (rendered in pencil)

On September 19, 1846, the Blessed Virgin appeared to two shepherd children from the mountainous hamlet of LaSalette, France. Our Lady appeared dressed in peasant garments and surrounded by a brilliant aura of light, while abundant tears flowed from her eyes. The message she brought from Heaven was one of warning, repentance, & chastisement for those who neglected to attend Holy Mass and failed to observe Lenten penances. The Church approved the apparitions in 1851.

In this drawing, I attempted to portray the Virgin with an expression of sorrow in the eyes, but at the same time, with a look of majesty and strength.
