The DB Draw railroad bridge crosses the Hackensack River, connecting Secaucus NJ (where I stood to get the shot) with Kearny NJ. It was taken out of service, Wiki tells me, in 2002, and left open for river traffic.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - Outside of the mountains there are not many waterfalls in Wyoming. Especially on the eastern Plains, where the climate is drier and the sandy soil tends to absorb water quickly. There wasn’t a whole lot of information on this trail. Some claimed the waterfall was unreachable or not worth the effort. But I figured a rainy week during the wettest month of the year was the best time to give it a try. Cottonwood Draw begins near Wheatland across from Grayrocks Reservoir. A two-track turns into a narrow footpath which fades into nothing at all. Fallen trees, thorny overgrown brush, and plenty of mud stood as obstacles. But navigation wasn’t difficult, I just had to follow the creek. It became deeper the closer I got, until finally I could hear falling water. This lush oasis was much different than the surrounding terrain. Cliffs on three sides made a natural amphitheater, echoing what sounded like voices even though no one else was there. The dark, overcast sky allowed me to take a long exposure to smooth out the motion of the water. As long as you’re prepared with proper hiking boots and clothing, it’s a worthwhile trek.

This is taken when I was in a bus on my way to London. It was an amazing day, and my first time in London. I miss my exchange partner Ellie and the funny evenings with her friends in the garden on the trampolin or watching the Worldcup. Hmm. Old, good times!
As summer draws near I am tempted to shave because I still feel the shame of going against societal standards of beauty. Instead I did a beauty shoot where I embraced myself, my hairy pits, and decided I am beautiful how I am. If you don't think so, mind you own damn business.
If its cold outside, laundrette's make great places to draw with their comfy seats and warmth from all the machines. I think the woman who works must be used to photographers and drawers coming in as she nonchalantly was like sure on you go.
Though I can't quite figure the place out, it has the look of a place that's been there for ages but so many things about it seem deliberately placed rather than an accumulation of random stuff. The walls are bare plaster, there's picture's by tretchikoff, detergent boxes piled up like Warhol, odd eclectic objects, lots of good things to draw.
This is what i did yesterday morning.. was so lazy that i drew this on the back of my drawing book..yes on the cover..ddint even bother to pick up a pencil...drew it with a blue ball point pen and edited in picasa to make it B/W ...i love Hobbes holding the umbrella :)..

I designed this a few weeks ago but I wasn't able to post it until now. College and traveling and making decisions and spending time with my favorite people certainly gets in the way of doing ordinary things like posting on flickr. Excuses aside, this design was supposed to be my design for New Year's, and I thought I'd explain a little why I decided to choose it for New Year's or not. I don't know if you guys realize it or now, but the verses I choose for my designs are not random. All of them have distinct connections to what's going on in my life and my heart. When I look back at a year of designs I see not only the designs and pictures as places I've been, but also the things that I've learned. You see, I'm sharing with you a verse that personally meant something to me. This verse is my personal challenge for this year. I guess usually we have a vague idea of wanting to progressively come closer to God as time passes, but here we have some clear direction about how to do that. We draw near to him with a clear heart, first. No fog between our heart and the Father. We must clear up our heart before Him. When we do, we can come before Him with confidence and in full assurance in His love for us and in who He is. We can draw near and be close and seek to know Him. Life moves really fast. Days pass, then months, then years. We find our lives passing before our very eyes...but what are we filling the days with. One day when you and I stand before the throne of God, without any worldly goods or accomplishments–we will only have the eternal things. I want to take God up one the things He's asking me to do. I, We only have a little while. Let us draw near to Christ and when He filled our cup to overflowing let it flow out in all that we do. Let us see that the all the "good" and "beautiful" in us is Jesus becoming more and more apparent in our lives and hearts and attitudes. Let us become more like Jesus this year.
The view looking down toward the area of the Big Draw from Chasm View along the South Rim Drive at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. That's the Gunnison River at the bottom of the Canyon. The geology of the Black Canyon will have to suffice for a while as my plans for a trip to South Dakota tomorrow have changed. So I won't be able to see Badlands National Park, Devil's Tower, Mount Rushmore quite yet. But stay tuned, I do have some day trips that I'm putting together for the next 5 days.
