“I love you beyond paint, beyond melodies, beyond words. And I hope you will always feel that, even when I'm not around to tell you so.”

As 2022 draws to a close, I am looking forward to turning the page on this year, which has been a difficult one for me, and starting the new chapter that is 2023.
There are a few lines from a Josh Groban song called "Thankful", that I have always loved:
Even with our differences
There is a place we're all connected
Each of us can find each others' light
For me, Flickr has become a beautiful place to find that light and that connection, especially in a world that seems to grow increasingly dark and troubled. So I want to share a deep and sincere Thank You to all my Flickr friends and contacts for the light you give and all the ways in which you uplift my spirit. Thank you for sharing your talents and creativity which both awe and inspire me, for sharing your beautiful places, special moments, and great adventures, for your thoughtful and generous support of my photography and writing, and most of all for your personal kindness, caring, and humanity. I truly enjoy all of the conversations, comments, and connection with each of you, and am incredibly thankful for your encouragement and good wishes through some of the tough times this year.
I am profoundly grateful to have met such wonderful people here on Flickr. Because in the words of the incomparable Maya Angelou in the poem below,
"Nobody, but nobody, Can make it out here alone.
I wish each of you health, happiness, and beautiful light (both in photography and life) in the new year ahead!
Alone
by Maya Angelou
Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
There are some millionaires
With money they can't use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
My forever home
The forest surrounds me.
It holds me in its green leafy embrace.
It called me here away from sand and sun.
Ancient mountains called me home.
A powerful vortex opens here
Into a doorway to another dimension,
Mysterious and Magical,
Into a new time and space.
Clocks accelerate
As kindred spirits and I
Dance on the currents
Of a new Universal existence.
Did synchronicity, serendipity, or synergy
Draw us to this land of promise
To live in a State of mind:
"To be, rather than to seem"?
I live at an apogee of flux
encompassing creativity and spirituality.
My heart, mind, and being
Resonate with this land.
A mystical doorway opens
Into another dimension
Of my ever-changing
Universe, my forever home.

The Burnham on Crouch Quay again!!! Sorry but the light was so nice took loads of shots. This one has deep blue tones and horizontal lines in the sky! Excuse any noise, hand held as no tripod. Must keep it in the car!
As the year draws to an end, I want to thank all of you for your love and support! I appreciate every single fav and especially your lovely comments which I really enjoy reading! Even though I've never met anyone of you, it feels like I found some great friends here which are not only giving me strength in hard times, but also inspire me with their great work the put up here on Flickr. Thanks for everything and happy new year!

On Unst, Shetland’s northernmost island, a striking Viking longhouse and ship replica offer a vivid glimpse into Norse life and legacy.
Unst is believed to be the first landfall of Vikings in the North Atlantic, and today it boasts the highest density of rural Viking sites in the world—over 60 longhouse remains have been identified across the island. The Viking Unst Project, centered in Haroldswick, brings this history to life through two captivating reconstructions: a 9th-century longhouse and the Skidbladner, a replica of the famed Gokstad ship.
The longhouse, built using traditional materials and techniques, stands as a tactile interpretation of Norse domestic architecture. Its turf walls, timber frame, and central hearth evoke the communal warmth and practicality of Viking living. Visitors can explore the interior freely, gaining insight into how families cooked, slept, and gathered in these elongated, multifunctional spaces. The reconstruction draws on archaeological findings from three key Unst sites—Hamar, Underhoull, and Belmont—each revealing layers of Norse settlement from around 1025 to 1220.
Just steps away, the Skidbladner rests beside Harold’s Wick, its sleek silhouette echoing the seafaring prowess of Viking explorers. Modeled after the Gokstad ship discovered in Norway, this replica showcases the craftsmanship and navigational ingenuity that enabled Norse expansion across Europe. With its clinker-built hull and graceful curves, the ship is both a tribute to Viking engineering and a symbol of their adventurous spirit.
Together, the longhouse and ship form a compelling open-air museum, accessible year-round and free to explore. They’re not just static displays—they’re immersive storytelling tools, anchoring Unst’s identity in its Norse heritage. Whether you’re tracing the footsteps of settlers or marveling at maritime design, these reconstructions offer a tangible connection to a time when Unst was a frontier of Viking ambition.
It's been a long, long time since I didn't draw anything. Well, I wasn't that much good in painting. Today I decided to pick up the brush and tried to draw something and finally I ended up with this.
I want to dedicate this to the most wonderful person Neelgolapi. Her words inspired me a lot to do this, after 8/9 years later. :)
According to researchers, a man will gaze at a woman’s lips before gravitating elsewhere over the landscape of her body. (yes, including her chest).
Lips are our body’s most exposed erogenous zone. They are packed with more than a million different nerve endings, making them one of the most sensitive parts of our body.
They are considered a sensually seductive part of our body, and highlighting them in rich glittering colors adds to their alluring qualities.
These Stunner Originals Fantastic Lips exemplify this biological phenomenon. Their sophisticated satin luminous quality draws such beautiful attention to your lips, making them irresistibly kissable. This Fantastic Collection also gives you 25 different deep shades to choose from.
For my eyeshadow, I wanted a sexy and dramatic look. That said, I selected the M&T Garage Giada EvoX eyeshadow in metallic blue with winged eyeliner. This Giada collection comes in 6 gorgeous color options.
Wearing this blue hue brings out my eyes correctly and makes them pop. I adjusted the eyeshadow color density to 60% for a demurer appearance.
Both the Stunner Originals Fantastic Lips and the M&T Garage Giada Eyeshadow are exclusively available at Swank’s "Wild Spring Event" for March 2023.

The Beautiful Mess that is the world right now...we don't know quite where to draw our attention with the constant news cycle and sense of pain and suffering all around. It's difficult to focus on the beauty of things and the way the light comes through when you are consumed with it. Joy is an act of resistance indeed!
I watched Le Havre by Aki Kaurismäki last night (one of my very favorite directors) and I became a little more hopeful about people even though it's not a documentary. On Criterion Channel and highly recommended.

This Great Blue Heron was re-arranging its feathers, and hit this position - reminded me of a western movie with the cowboys facing each other down, ready to draw!
> Light me up, when the sun closes its eyes and abandons the horizon.
Then your lighthouse awakens, like a promise that refuses to surrender to the night.
When one goes down, the other rises, a silent guardian of my wanderings.
Between your two lights, my heart learns it is never truly alone.
By day, your warmth draws golden paths across my doubts.
By night, your flame keeps watch, slender and stubborn at the edge of my fears.
You pass the torch like two sentinels of the same vow.
And in this endless cycle, I hear the certainty of a love that never tires of shining.

This tree is over 120 years old and no one knows who planted it and why, such a rare specimen in Kyiv in those ancient times near the central entrance to the institute. A few years ago I photographed this "Chinese woman" so abundantly covered with fruits that you wonder where this inconspicuous-looking old tree draws its strength from. Unfortunately, there are no photos from the times when huge Christmas trees grew next to it, of which only a few are still alive at the edges of the square.
Look in mid-October:

So I want to start this off by saying I am consistently over-ambitious. Take today, for example. Today, I thought to myself, in my second attempt at using my new tablet, why don't I go ahead and try to draw a hood and a magic bubble and a shirt, on top of the usual hair, lighting, and color effects that I normally do.
Mind you, I don't draw/can't draw. Part of the purpose of this tablet is to try new things. Well ... I eventually gave up and realised my hood was actually a cloud. So I made it a magical effing cloud. And by the end I was just brain tired and gave up on the shirt altogether.
Anyways, a pile-up of Kira Balestra.

Pan Am Railways LOSA traverses over Draw 7 into Everett, MA. Now that this train has been abolished this marks the end of road freights along the New Hampshire and Eastern Routes again.

If the parents just kept quiet, these chicks would never be found. Their loud shrill peeping draws attention to the family and very soon after sitting still and observing, the chicks will make themselves known by running around. This family consisted of three chicks and two parents, continuously bellowing out their shrill cries to the babies to keep hidden. Eventually all were reunited under some green vegetation and I moved on after having snapped many photos of this delightful scene. Here are just a few.
Amtrak’s eastbound California Zephyr quietly crosses the large earthen fill leading down to Tunnel 16 at South Draw as the silvery passenger train catches some sunlight playing tag with clouds while dropping downgrade through the Tunnel District east of Crescent, Colorado, on the afternoon of April 24, 2019.
