As 2022 draws to a close, I am looking forward to turning the page on this year, which has been a difficult one for me, and starting the new chapter that is 2023.

There are a few lines from a Josh Groban song called "Thankful", that I have always loved:

Even with our differences

There is a place we're all connected

Each of us can find each others' light

For me, Flickr has become a beautiful place to find that light and that connection, especially in a world that seems to grow increasingly dark and troubled. So I want to share a deep and sincere Thank You to all my Flickr friends and contacts for the light you give and all the ways in which you uplift my spirit. Thank you for sharing your talents and creativity which both awe and inspire me, for sharing your beautiful places, special moments, and great adventures, for your thoughtful and generous support of my photography and writing, and most of all for your personal kindness, caring, and humanity. I truly enjoy all of the conversations, comments, and connection with each of you, and am incredibly thankful for your encouragement and good wishes through some of the tough times this year.

I am profoundly grateful to have met such wonderful people here on Flickr. Because in the words of the incomparable Maya Angelou in the poem below,

"Nobody, but nobody, Can make it out here alone.

I wish each of you health, happiness, and beautiful light (both in photography and life) in the new year ahead!

Alone

by Maya Angelou

Lying, thinking

Last night

How to find my soul a home

Where water is not thirsty

And bread loaf is not stone

I came up with one thing

And I don't believe I'm wrong

That nobody,

But nobody

Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone

Nobody, but nobody

Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires

With money they can't use

Their wives run round like banshees

Their children sing the blues

They've got expensive doctors

To cure their hearts of stone.

But nobody

No, nobody

Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone

Nobody, but nobody

Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely

I'll tell you what I know

Storm clouds are gathering

The wind is gonna blow

The race of man is suffering

And I can hear the moan,

'Cause nobody,

But nobody

Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone

Nobody, but nobody

Can make it out here alone.

I'm super proud to show the new nails I made, first set actually! It took me a while to draw the gloss and make them seem realistic.

Let me know what you think! They come in 6 different colors for Legacy and Ebody ♥

The Burnham on Crouch Quay again!!! Sorry but the light was so nice took loads of shots. This one has deep blue tones and horizontal lines in the sky! Excuse any noise, hand held as no tripod. Must keep it in the car!

As the year draws to an end, I want to thank all of you for your love and support! I appreciate every single fav and especially your lovely comments which I really enjoy reading! Even though I've never met anyone of you, it feels like I found some great friends here which are not only giving me strength in hard times, but also inspire me with their great work the put up here on Flickr. Thanks for everything and happy new year!

It was foggy that morning. In the forest in fog in full sunshine, what could be better? It literally draws me into the light! What a beautiful place we live in! Hallelujah!

An diesem Morgen war es nebelig. Im Wald bei Nebel im vollem Sonnenschein, was kann es schöneres geben? Es zieht mich förmlich ins Licht! Man was wohnen wir doch schön! Halleluja!

During mating season, the Australian magpie can become aggressive and attack humans crossing its territory. Fortunately for this man, this swooping macaw was friendly and just wanted to perch on his owners hand.

This is one of the very first macro pictures I took during the year (2017). I'm not sure if it is sharp enough for flickr but I keep being drawn to it when I look back at the pictures I took this year and the colour of the background draws me to this spiders web. So I'm going to upload to judge whether it has any merit or not...lol

I had draw a rainbow in my window with watercolors. Yesterday I cleaned it, what a surprise to see this wonderful shape coming out.

Buffalo, NY. The one that is nearly vertical has been abandoned for many years.

This Great Blue Heron was re-arranging its feathers, and hit this position - reminded me of a western movie with the cowboys facing each other down, ready to draw!

When you are at school, and the teacher says draw a mountain, the triangle is where most of us would begin. Most mountains don't really look like that, but Beinn Dorain seen here certainly matches that desciption.

CP 133 (CSX Z155) crosses over the Buffalo River Drawbridge for the Compromise Branch (now track 3 of the Buffalo Terminal Sub), however depending on the dispatch they seem to use the terms interchangeably.

I’m not the best artist but thought I’d draw on these eggs, before they went in the cake mix I was making.

An amazing number of different colours, (mostly shades of Green) in a grassy environment west of Penticton.

Drax power station. The only coal powered station still under power, but burning wood pellets imported from the US. Once the most powerful power station in the UK, producing 6% of the UK power. Many questions over its sustainable credentials...but it does make or a good photo.
