The sun dipped low, casting a final, desperate warmth across the stagnant waters of the marsh. The reeds stood like skeletal guardians, frozen in the cooling air, watching the vibrant oranges and purples bleed into the deep indigo of the coming night. It was a moment of profound stillness, where the world seemed to hold its breath between the fading light and the encroaching shadows.
Every ripple on the water mirrored the chaotic beauty of the sky, creating a liquid tapestry of fire and ice. There was a haunting grace in the way the darkness began to swallow the distant treeline, leaving only the tall, thin stalks to testify to the day's end. In this lonely landscape, the transition was not a quiet exit, but a dramatic, silent opera of color and light.

Two kilometers outside Milina, a prominent tourist town on the west coast of Pelion, there is a highly protected bay, where hundreds of boats, leisure and fishing boats dock. its edge.
When I first got there, the weather was absolutely clear, the waters completely untouched and the mirrors of all kinds of boats crystal clear like in a normal mirror.
I imagined, then, how exciting the overcast would be with the colors of the east, but that year there were no such conditions during our vacation in another nearby area.
But the following year, but also several years afterwards, my aforementioned “fantasy” was fulfilled many times.
Valtoudi (as I was told by the locals it was said) proved to be a photographic "paradise" for me as I gained significant visual experience and a large collection of photos from there. from relevant internet research and wonder why.
Perhaps the answer lies in the fact that, no matter how big a photographer he is, he never loses his holiday sleep because only then can one get the most out of the beauty of the place, since at sunset the waters are never calm and humid. , magic mirror disappears.

The twin sentinels stood as silent witnesses at the edge of the world, their twisted, gnarled limbs clawing at the fading sky like skeletal fingers. Below them, a forgotten orchard prepared for night, its smaller shapes settling into deep shadow, while in the distance, the earth itself seemed to ignite. The last breaths of the day erupted in a blaze of furious gold and blood-orange, an inferno so intense it seared the horizon, casting a blinding glow that failed to touch the absolute darkness of the foreground. This was the moment the old gods had described: the nightly war where darkness finally claimed the sun, only after a brilliant and terrifying stand.
For just a moment, the sky was a battlefield of contrasting forces. Dark, churning clouds battled for supremacy against the blinding light, creating an atmosphere thick with tension. It felt as though time itself had suspended, trapped between the fading remnants of day and the encroaching mystery of night. These trees, ancient and unyielding, watched over the transition, knowing that while the fire would eventually consume the last light, the darkness below was their true domain, waiting patiently for the final ember to vanish before they, too, would disappear into the void.

One or two of you have recently asked me if I've been affected by the recent fires devastating large parts of southern Europe. I was able to reply in the negative.....until yesterday when we became embroiled in a very scary fire which encroached upon the village and its environs and was at its peak last night. Fortunately, for the most part the village was spared but there was devastation around it. Importantly though, nobody died. People were evacuated and we had a bag each packed last night just in case we had to. Again, fortunately, we were able to stay in situ. It's flared up again this afternoon so it's an ongoing situation for the almost 1200 firemen and lots of planes and helicopters that were brought in to fight it. The photo was taken from our terrace. Scary stuff!
I'll be doing some catching up tomorrow

Taipei has been hazy for a long time. I went up the same shooting spot this afternoon but the mist was even worse. Share a shot taken previously.

A challenging day on The Brecon Beacons catching the light.
The seeing of the light was easy, dealing with the emotion it triggered was hard but being able to capture the dramatic scenes was incredibly hard. Knowing both time and knowledge of the locations were against you. Sharing the experience with my sweet Caroline was the best thing.
Visits to places like Dartmoor, Exmoor and The Brecon Beacons are life changing for photographers. Well worth a visit...
This was our first visit to this location, hoping to return soon.
