Wrapped in the quiet glow of a fading day the sky over Tokushima softened into the warm colors . The coast turned calm and gently as the evening showed down just long enough to be felt.
After our recent trip up to the Lakes at Easter, I’ve finally started to look through the images, with this probably being one of my favourites. It’s Kelly Hall Tarn, taken on my phone as I was playing around with compositions.
Liking the result, I set up my ‘proper’ camera, but I actually prefer this original version; I just couldn’t replicate the same angle using my camera on the tripod. Also by the time I had my main camera set up, the light and clouds weren’t as dramatic.

The Teufelsmauer near Weddersleben is very impressive.
Beneath a vast Nordic sky, the rugged granite shores of Styrsö melt into the shimmering blue of Sweden's coastline. Crimson rooftops peek through emerald trees, their colors echoing the warmth of a summer village waking to the gentle hush of the archipelago. From the heights of Stora Rös, every glen reveals a tapestry of sea, stone, and serenity—a timeless Swedish landscape where land and water embrace in perfect harmony.

Stars and clouds over the “Alien Throne” and other hoodoo sandstone rock formations in the Valley of Dreams in the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Study Area, New Mexico
This is a rural image from Marion County, Iowa, photographed one afternoon in August. I sought to transform this photo into a more colorful scene and make it a more compelling visual image. I used mask-based color processing and exposure masks to alter the original photo, nothing else was changed.

Long-exposure light over Jimbaran Bay, Bali, with fading colour in the sky and the shoreline lights beginning to reflect across the water.
Evenings on the shores of Lake Titicaca can be very cold and windy. A small campfire is very useful to warm you up a little!
This was the first shot I made during my vacations in the Swiss Alps. For sure it was only a small hike up towards the mountain peaks but I was wondering what I would see on that day with such wonderful and quick changing light conditions! When I reached this area here it looked like as if the gods were sending this light to the earth to brighten the gloom of the shadows of death in the world. For me simply beautiful and I had hurry to catch this vision here.

30/31: October 2021: A month in 31 pictures
This isn't the best shot as I took it through the windscreen of a moving car (I wasn't driving). The sky was amazing and so dramatic I just had to try to capture it.
I haven't been home much for the past couple of weeks but back now so will hopefully be able to catch up with viewing and commenting.
Yesterday morning I went to the beautiful Slikken van Flakkee again to photograph the flowering samphire. Together with Karla van Iwaarden we had some wonderful light when we arrived. This was actually the first shot I took and the light never got better, so I am glad that I set the alarm early this morning.

Morning on the beachfront at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, in Sawangan, Nusa Dua. The resort sits on the southeastern coast of Bali overlooking the Indian Ocean, where the offshore reef helps keep the water relatively calm.
