I think it might release more slow shutter speed or more high ISO sensitivity. It is very difficult to control the exposure balance under the dark situation.

The Rail Runner pulled in from Albuquerque just as the snow flurries subsided and the sun came back out in force, for a moment, yet the dark dramatic sky prevailed and frost is in the forecast for tonight.
The moon looked so good tonight with the clouds and the halo, I just had to get out and take this. The exposure time was quite long (0.3 sec) and the clouds smeared a bit, which I liked. The focus isn't sharp but I didn't want it to be. Minor adjustments in Photoshop.

A model and a museum volunteer strike a dramatic pose on the foot board of former CN H-6-g class 4-6-0 #1392. Model train manufacturer Rapido Trains has just announced production of a series of HO scale versions of the CN Ten Wheelers, with 1392 being one of them. A portion of the model sales will be donated to the Alberta Railway Museum outside of Edmonton, which is the home for the 1392. Although small and non profit, the museum has a dedicated team of volunteers that ensure the collection of CN and Northern Alberta Railway equipment is preserved for future generations to enjoy.
Side door to a Chinese temple - vivid reds and gold highlights, especially on the door-ring. If not for the camera viewfinder, I must say I would probably not have noticed how beautiful that particular door-ring is with its bat-like design.
This is the first in the series of shots taken whilst on a short photo-jaunt to Thian Hock Kheng Temple (at 158 Telok Ayer Street) over the weekend. This Temple of Heavenly Happiness was built in the 1800s as a shrine dedicated to Ma Zhu, the deity associated with seafaring Chinese. The oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore, it was frequented by Chinese immigrants arriving on the shores of Singapore who came to give offerings and thanks for the safe sea voyage.
And yes, you should have noticed by now that I particularly gravitate to anything RED!
For those of you who read my posting with the loon image, I just wanted to update you as to the status of the over 6,000 dead loons, grebes, diving ducks on the shores of Georgian Bay in Wasaga Beach where I live. The Ministry of Environment arrived Monday morning and had the beaches cleaned up completely by early afternoon. I went to every beach and thankfully didn't see one.
Had I photographed this scene Sunday evening - it would have been littered with dead birds.
Botulism has been confirmed by the University when they located a barely live bird affected with it - once dead it would never be clear if they had died from botulism or it was produced after death.
This is just after the sun had set behind Blue Mountains over Georgian Bay. Our days are filled with cloud and rain - however the sun does seem to come out occasionally just before sunset.

Interesting combination of cloud formations caught my eye as we took in the Clearview Eco Park Trail, Stayner, ON.
Emanuel Vigeland Museum is one of Oslo's best kept secrets. Emanuel Vigeland (1875-1948), is the younger brother of the much more famous Gustav Vigeland. The museum's main attraction is a dark, barrel-vaulted room, completely covered with fresco paintings. The 800 sq.m. fresco Vita depicts human life from conception till death, in dramatic and often explicitly erotic scenes. Large groups of bronze figures reiterate the dedication to the mystery of procreation. Entering the museum is a unique experience. The impression of the dimly lit frescoes with multitudes of naked figures is reinforced by the unusual and overwhelming acoustics of the room (www.emanuelvigeland.museum.no/museum.htm)
A bit dramatic for me, but I was rummaging through some old photographs and this particular simple flower caught my eye and thought of the caption immediately -- sort of represents my life experiences -- I have faced many things alone throughout the worst times and I'm still standing :).
A bit of color from the 2005 Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, which I might add, is a sight not to be missed!
