This breathtaking landscape captures nature's most spectacular theater - a towering cumulonimbus cloud formation illuminated by golden sunset light. The massive cloud structure dominates the frame with its billowing, cotton-like texture, painted in brilliant shades of amber, orange, and coral against a deep blue evening sky. Wispy cirrus clouds streak across the upper atmosphere, creating dynamic leading lines. The foreground features a serene lake with gentle ripples reflecting the warm light, bordered by silhouetted bare trees that add depth and scale to the composition. The contrast between the dark tree line and luminous sky creates perfect balance. Shot during the magical golden hour, this image showcases the raw power and beauty of atmospheric phenomena. As if Yosemite Valley is not dramatic enough in normal light, here is a look at it in the infrared spectrum!
This photo was taken by a Minolta Autocord Seikosha-MX (Chiyoko) TLR using Chiyoko Rokkor 1:3.5 and 1:3.2 f=75 lenses with a 49mm Hoya R72 Infrared filter attached to a 30mm to 49mm bayonet TLR adapter using Rollei IR 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized by Photoshop.
A shot taken at One Fullerton area, in the morning of the same day with the previous shot. It was drizzling when we reached there with some dramatic cloud formation. When the rain got smaller, I quickly setup my gear to take a few shots before the cloud went off.
The warm tone is due to the warm cast of my ND filter. I made used of it to get the final image.

I don't think so. I'm enjoying every one since moving here last June. These are our first winter sunsets and sunrises here and I don't think I could ever get bored with them. Each day is different but just as pretty.
You can see the snow on the Cheviots, reflecting blue from the sky. Got to love Northumberland!
Every now and then I just dip randomly into my archives. All my images are in dated folders, and of course I forgot exactly what I was doing on March 7th of last year... What a delight to pull up some dramatic images from Sedona that are tucked away in those archives. We had intended to find a short hike to take on this day, but the threatening skies turned that into a drive around the Red Rock loop instead of a hike. I jumped out of the car at every possible vista point to enjoy the changing skies.
For some reason I chose to focus on the foreground rather than the background, which was probably just a mistake, but I rather like the dreamy, misty effect - sort of like looking thru a plate glass window.
Usually, I wouldn't waste pixels on a pair of NS Dash-9s, but the sun peeked out for a few seconds, illuminating a momentary snow flurry to create a dramatic scene. I guess the CNW style 'E' signals back there don't hurt either.

We've had some quite wild weather here in the last few days with high winds and big downpours.
I love watching the clouds scoot across the sky and over the mountains.

I sewed a pair of "curtains" a few weeks ago to add to the prop box. Four yards of inexpensive costume velvet, cut in half, each hemmed on three sides with a sleeve sewn across the fourth.
As my prop curtain rod is only 4' long, it proved insufficient to create the stage backdrop I was hoping for.
The fact I was way more focused on getting the Feather to stay in Toby's hat, and missed the fact he was no where near centered between the curtains didn't help.
So you get a horizontal crop.
Note to self: buy/make something to tie the curtains with, as rubber bands (mercifully hidden by Toby's head on this side of the image)... failed.

44208 and 4488 pass through Mascot with T281, a Qube Logistics container trip train from Port Botany to Mascot, with 44208 showing exactly what ALCo locomotives are famous for!
It is interesting to note the difference in colour schemes between 44208 and 44209 (also owned by CFCL Australia).
