Supercell Approaches...

A dramatic storm cloud looms over a rural landscape, with dark, turbulent formations contrasting against the lighter sky in the background. Fields stretch out below under the ominous sky as a small line of trees and houses sit near the horizon.

The light, the wind and the waves were putting on a pretty good show at Huntington Beach this past Sunday.

One of the last shots I took on our trip to the Hunter. I actually walked away from taking any shots of this church cause Bree and I had to head home. I would have kicked myself if I didn't go back and take a few shots cause it turned out to be one of my favourite shots of the weekend.

Two of my own photographs, several of my custom textures and overlays, and elements from antique paintings combine to make a dramatic background.

Process: Yours Truly

This image is for the new "Pimp My Pixels" group on flickr. Basically you upload and untouched/unprocessed image and then members of PmP will process it for you and in return you get to see how others would have processed your photo.

Yes, I know...another headshot of me...I won't post any more for a while, I promise. :)

An oldie I just "found" again...I didn't really like it until I found the processing I liked. Basically a mixture of every action I have and then tweaked like crazy. :P

I find that gratitude wells up on evening displays like this. I do not take for granted the wonderful amazing gift of sight to take this in.

I thought I'd share these two photos of the wild waves, taken each side of South Parade Pier, as I'd like my photostream to look nice and blue and summery!! Although it was fairly warm out of the wind, you can see the sea was very choppy!

Stagy morning sky before sunrise.

The water is now ice covered following a few really cold days.

A vision, personal and dramatic, a simple and beautiful sunrise

Not sure about that skirt. There's a lot of shiny cream synthetic in this outfit

Given what occurred in 1929, “Tragic New Year” is a far better title. The stock market crashed on Black Monday, October 28, 1929, accelerating a global economic collapse that led to the Great Depression.

One of the most recognizable illustrations of J. C. Leyendecker’s storied career as a commercial artist is the New Year’s Baby he designed for the cover of “The Saturday Evening Post” at the beginning of each year. His first baby was delivered for the December 29, 1906 issue of the Post, and the series continued uninterrupted until 1943, each one insightfully capturing the spirit of the times.

Just a normal simple basket. I tried to get the best looking shot right in camera. No post processing needed.

Canon A-1, 50mm f/1.4, Kodak Tri-X, Red filter

This was my first time using a red filter and I was looking for dramatic high contrast images that would be even more dramatic with the filter. Some of my shots worked and others didn't. I really like the style though so will no doubt do more with the red filter.
