San Francisco's Chinatown, the oldest and one of the largest in North America, is a vibrant neighborhood rich in history and culture. Established in 1848, it spans 24 city blocks and is a bustling enclave filled with an array of shops, markets, restaurants, and cultural landmarks. Visitors are greeted by the iconic Dragon Gate at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Bush Street, leading into a world of colorful lanterns, herbal medicine shops, and authentic dim sum eateries. The area is known for its historic architecture, including the Tien Hau Temple and the Chinese Historical Society of America Museum, which offer glimpses into the community's past. Festivals such as the Chinese New Year Parade showcase traditional dragon dances and elaborate floats, drawing crowds from all over. San Francisco's Chinatown is a testament to the enduring legacy and dynamic spirit of the Chinese-American community.

These tall guys were leading the charge with the dragon head during the CNY Parade. This year the dragon has been lengthened to about 288 feet because it's the Year of the Dragon. There were ove 100 volunteers from all over the Bay Area handling it. A few voluneteers were well past 60 years old as you can see one of the guys in front.

The fire dragon from China (Pu-Zhai township of Guangdong Province) to celebrate Chinese Yuan Xiao Festival in Taiwan. People believe that bombing the fire dragon would get rid of diseases and the evil, so that they can enjoy a peaceful and happy new year.

The Chinese School staged their annual Dragon Dance outside the town hall in font of an appreciative audience before processing with two Lion Dancers to bring fortune to local Chinese businesses in town.

Bombing the Dragon in Miaoli.

Usually these dragons come out during the Chinese New Year celebrations but this one made an appearance at the Dragon Boat Festival held last weekend in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. I guess I should have expected dragons at a dragon boat race, right?
I really like the artistry and amount of detail that goes into making these fantastic beasts! I'm glad I was close enough to get some good shots because I don't think I'll see any more dragons until the next Chinese New Year celebration.
"Spray Of Molten Steel Dragon Performance"
Chinese folk artists from Chongqing city performed unique dragon dances to celebrate Yuan Xiao Festival in Nantou County in Taiwan.
The artists sprayed molten iron into the sky while people performing dragon dance, creating a unique scenery of a dragon flying through the shower of sparking fireworks.
南投縣政府於元宵春節 邀請大陸重慶國際級演出團隊 – 銅梁火龍來台展演。演出前先利用燒鐵爐 將生鐵塊熔成鐵水，當火龍演出舞龍同時，將鐵水往空中打散呈現出烈焰火花，在燦爛火光中舞龍，震撼全場，氣勢非凡。
