Polka dots can't stay alone;
like the communicative life of people,
two or three polka dots become movement...
Polka dots are a way to infinity.

Philip Vermeulen. Chasing The Dot
The very first museum solo exhibition of the emerging artist Philip Vermeulen can be seen at Rijksmuseum Twenthe until 5 January 2025.
Hypersculptures
In his works, Vermeulen explores the foundations of human perception through movement, light, vibrations and sound. What does light do to our brains, how do we register movement, what does sound feel like, and do we actually see what we think we see? Vermeulen's space-filling installations, which he himself calls 'hypersculptures', seem to transform before the eyes of the viewer, creating a unique and enchanting experience.

Tired of following White Dots! Hiked the Peavine trail around Watson Lake. By the time we were done, I had seen my share of the dots. It's a fun trail, a bit rough at times, that follows the lake shore, down behind the dam and back up.
The inability of some critics to connect the dots doesn't make pointillism pointless.

Besides the short hind toes of this bird, the small white dots at the tips of its wing feathers distinguish it from the (longer-toed) Eurasian Tree-creeper.
