Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast is a special place with this amazing group of sea stacks!
This particular early morning had sea mist that was burning off when I captured this image - but some of that magic remained!
The largest sea stack you see is known as Haystack Rock, and is a haven for a multitude of birds - if you zoom in, you can see it dotted with white gulls, and a few flying above it.
This area also has many tide pools, which is critical habitat for plants and animals such as star fish, crabs - you never know what you'll see lurking there!
Visit if you get the chance!

This is my image for category 103, “Tablemats” in the group 120 pictures in 2020.
Captured on a bright May morning in 2025, the soft white petals glow against a vibrant blue sky dotted with fluffy clouds. The sun’s rays peek through, casting a magical lens flare that adds a dreamy touch to this serene scene. Nature’s beauty at its finest—perfect for a moment of calm and reflection.

Kwiat tojeści kropkowanej (Lysymachia punctata) w pełnym rozkwicie.
This green dot appears in many on my photos - regardless of which camera or phone being used (Iphone, Ipad, Fuji, Android, etc....). Why does this happen?
Life is too short to wear boring jewelry.

As mentioned I have saved saved my two favourites for last. What I call Loon Lagoon becuse I use to occasionally see a pair of Loons there is a goto location for me at Elk island. No matter what the conditions, I always stop for at least a shot or two.
This is a manual stitching of two different shots taken at differing focal lengths. It was certainly not intended to be a panorama when I was shooting.
The resulting composite is quite a large file and I have made it slightly smaller here, but is still quite large, and I hope that most will view this fully magnified and scroll around to check out the details. A couple of minor details that I really like is the reflections on the ice just to the left and below the Beaver Lodge and then the two "dots" near the right mid area which were two muskrats on the top of the ice.
Although I had to lose some nice sky from the image on the left when making the composite, I am thrilled with the final result. It really is a very pretty area in my opinion.
