March 26 is Purple Day, supporting epilepsy world wide. Flocko is our poster boy canine seizures. We’re very lucky, we have them managed with phenobarbital but when they break through it is very frightening. We don’t know what triggers them, but we monitor his blood levels to keep the pheno at therapeutic levels.
When we brought Flocko home, we knew he had seizures and in hind sight, I would still adopt a dog that suffers from them. He is an amazing pet, we love him with all of our hearts
The owner said this is an Irish Dog. I did not get the full name. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks.
Here are some pictures from 2008. They were taken at the Caledonian Thistle Whippet Racing Club which meets at Kincardine. You'll spot that these aren't whippets. I don't know if it's still the case but at that time anyone with any breed of dog could come and run their dog down the track for a small fee. A group of Beagle owners came and raced their dogs every week. It was just for a bit of fun and was very entertaining. They're definitely not as streamlined as whippets but they tried just as hard.
A while ago someone explained to me that dogs don't have feelings. That they simply don't have that part in their brain that makes them feel love. What we see as excitement and happiness when we, get back from work, for example is actually his understanding that this may mean he will be fed soon or provide him heat or something that will benefit him. I'd be inclined to disagree with that scientist, plus I wouldn't want to hurt Ted's feelings.
