yup...our awesome dog is kinda weird sometimes. . .

P.S. He's 3/4 Yellow Lab and 1/2 Golden Retriever. His b-day is Oct. 16th, 2009.

He came running up to us with a log in his teeth and dropped it at our feet, so we could throw it for him.

Four special dogs in my life..

One of the few pictures where she doesn't look complete whacked out of her mind.

Taken for the ds2008 'Shifting Perspectives' calendar and touring exhibition. I asked the young adults how they saw themselves, what they liked, what they wanted etc. We then had lots of fun taking the photos.

You can see more about this set of pictures and others I have taken to raise awareness and funds for the Down's Syndrome Association at this site:

Just a quick shot this week, nothing special. Hanging out on the couch. :)

Inu - Alaskan Malamute

Este es Peco, mi cachorro. Lo tome a contraluz sobrexpuesto con el sol de medio dia exactamente detras de su cabeza, y con flash de relleno para sacar el detalle de su cara.

This is Peco, my poodle puppy. This is an overexposed backlit shot, with fill flash to get the detail of the dog's face. The mid day sun was exactly behind his head.

Billy the boxer turns to confront other dogs that are around, I just loved his sharp U turn look, as if he heard something said out of turn. Animals are very special creatures to capture and I just love their easy candid expressions and actions. Its all live and real.

Molly one of our dogs who is a beautiful Black Labrador.

Our Irish Wolfhound 'Molly' the first week we got her.

Honey wasn't exactly receptive to Monty's advances. Hard to believe

this little 3 lb. chihuahua could look so mean.

I think I am done working on Hannah and will now attempt a background. Not sure what the purchaser wants for a background yet so, I am going to make a print of Hannah and try out some different ideas I have. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Livia, ma belle grande Grecque (ex-chienne de rue d'Athènes)

On Tuesday the dogs lost their father and I lost my husband.

He was battling Motor Neurone Disease, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrigs Disease.

Leo hadn't bonded with Andrew as much as Lucy, as he was only a puppy when Andrew started showing symptoms of the disease, however, he has taken it worse.

It was bad enough while Andrew was in hospital, Leo was constantly looking for him, sniffing his wheelchair and bed. Lucy had been acting strangely for weeks before Andrew went to hospital, acting out very naughty and trying my patience.

When he returned home from hospital the dogs were relieved and actually calmly sat around us for hours.

Lucy tried to give him 'Mr Cat' and a ball, hoping he would be able to play with her.

He had been home for approximately 15 hours when he passed.

Leo knew straight away, however, Lucy was so high strung and excited due to all the new visitors that morning. Eventually when she calmed I watched her walk into the room curiously and walk out a few seconds later, head down and tail between her legs. She must have realised and said her goodbyes.

Shortly after, when the men from the Funeral home took him away, they both barked aggressively as they left with him, when they previously ignored the men when they arrived.

Now, they just lay around the house, following me where I go and constantly standing at the front door, hoping he will magically come through the door.

So this weekend I'm taking them away camping so we can all have a short break and return refreshed and ready for the funeral on Tuesday.
