Jazz will patiently wait for the rabbits to sneak in the yard and then he's off to attempt a little rabbit herding.

dogs will be dogs, and Border Collies will be Border Collies ...
Gyp takes her job of keeping the flock of dogs together, very seriously!
i am getting so tired of having to take a quick photo to submit to the group... i feel like i am letting myself and june down by creating an uninspired project for her... which is silly, because june has no idea we are even *doing* a project. this working all the time thing is really starting to wear me down. ugh. i have had an idea i wanted to try for weeks now but haven't had one day to do it. maybe next week... anyway, i hate that this is so similar to a shot from a few weeks back, but as i have been taking monthly profile shots of her as sort of a side project, i thought i would throw this one into 52 weeks as well. here, she was watching some seagulls flying overhead.
june turns ten months in just a few days. her big news this week is that she is, how shall we say it... becoming a lady! i decided a while back to delay spaying june to give her bones and joints the chance to grow and mature at their natural rate. the plan now is to do it in july or december, but sort of leaning toward december. so far, so good with her being in season. no attitude problems, no lovelorn boy dogs visiting, and she is keeping the mess under control herself. she has been a bit confused as to why she must go outside on a leash, however. that is no fun!!
they are calling for a little bit of snow tomorrow night, oh i hope it's enough for the dogs to play in!

Yesterday i finally found a field with poppies, I just think it is a really beautiful flower. And with Yatzy in them, it can´t be more beautiful ;-)
These dogs were next door to a birthday party I went to today. They warned their owners that there were strangers and then went about their business. When I took out my camera the barking started again but for a much shorter duration. I thought they were adorable. I took this picture for Fenced Fridays.
My dog Ferris, who was rescued from a bus stop in Monrovia by my wife Anne almost 8 years ago, had a heart attack and died this morning. It happened very quickly, and I was with her, which is supposed to make me feel better, but at this moment all I can feel is nearly-unbearable sorrow and the empty space in my life left behind by my awesome dog.
Bye bye, Ferris. I love you and miss you. You were the best dog ever.
Technical difficulty - 01. No skills needed for this one dog stance. Boomer loves a good updraft from the fan. After being away from my boy a couple of weeks and not having many ideas for expressions I thought this would be a change. Boomer's typical expressions are only for food, taking it easy and a good run in the field. He does no exciting ball chasing, dock diving, herding, agility, or cutesy tricks.
He's just a good ole bird dawg, happy to be by someone's side.
Skye's had somewhat of a rough week. We took her to the vet on Monday, because we noticed she was having trouble to run/play - she'd let out a loud whimper and sit back down. Turns out she has a problem on her lower back; we're giving her meds and next Saturday we need to take her back for another check up. If it isn't any better, she needs an x-ray. The vet says he's hoping it isn't a herniated disc...
We bathed her last night, so she slept with me on my bed. She never sleeps on my bed, so that was nice :)
