If you're reading this, then welcome to notes on a peculiar baseball anomaly: an official MLB home game for the Toronto Blue Jays...in Dunedin, Florida. (Due to the pandemic, they've been displaced and haven't actually played a home game in Toronto since 2019.)

For the entirety of the shortened 2020 season, they played their home games at their AAA club's stadium in Buffalo, New York (where they'll be returning beginning in June 2021.) For the beginning of the 2021 campaign, though, they've played their home games at TD Ballpark here in Dunedin, which is their spring training facility. (For the record, I have been to a home game in Toronto -- the day after I was at a home game for the Montreal Expos, and all of this was before digital photography back in 1996.) So, perhaps this is a "cheat" to put in my MLB collection, but I don't see it that way since it's an official game, and those are the Jays' home whites. The game even came replete with two national anthems and lots of "Canadian" signage around the outfield.

As for the game itself, it was against the Washington Nationals on 27 April. Max Scherzer took the mound for the Nats. The Jays -- and Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. in particular -- enjoyed that. They knocked him around for 7 runs (5 earned) en route to a 9-5 win.

Vlad was responsible for 7 of those runs with three home runs: a grand slam to left center in the 3rd, a solo shot to dead center in the 5th (pictured here circling the bases) -- both off Scherzer, and sliced a two-run homer over the right field wall (pictured here) in the 7th off Kyle Finnegan.

I like both teams, so enjoyed the game. What I didn't enjoy, though, was the attitude of far too many fans (all seemed to be in my section) who not only disregarded masking regulations, but mocked the pandemic in general. Of all the stadiums I've been to this year, the fans here were the worst, and I felt for the staff, who seemed to genuinely want to do the right thing. (Taking politics out of the equation: a person buys a ticket that agrees to certain conditions, then breaks them. I have a problem with that.)

PARENTS: As a parent you may find yourself frustrated because your child is not performing to your expectations. Parents want to be able to pass their legacy on to their kids, but the child seems unwilling or unable to “do the right things”. The child may do well in certain areas, but is not excelling in others. The parent wants to help in those areas. The parents want to do the “right thing”. Often the mother sees the child in conflict with the father figure and sees no possible resolution in sight, which increases her desire to find a “safe haven” to protect the child. The parent may realize they communication at home is basic and home life is not really encouraging to the child. While the parent provides everything they have a certain level of expectation for the child to “step up to the plate”, which does not happen usually due to family dynamics of:

A.Communication between parent/child is not effective

B.Discipline in house hold lacking and usually enforced by yelling or anger

C.Parent has not been able to pass on their “knowledge” to child and feels they are not doing their job well

D.Little time is spent in family discussions and when time is spent the discussions usually end in someone being upset

E.Conversations tend to be short and parents tailor them to “did you do this…” or “why did you do that”.

F.The parent does desperately not want to be a COP, but since the child has little respect for parents issues, parents continue to be the COP.

STUDENTS and YOUNG ADULTS: The student is attending class in high school, college, or junior college, but has no clear path to as to where their education will lead them. They feel uncertain, hesitant, maybe lacking in conviction of their direction. “Where am I going?” “What is my direction in life?” Education permits them freedom from having to announce what they intend to do in life, but these are the times they should be struggling with these questions and starting to formulate a worldview. They seek purpose but have not found it in their friends, mentors, family relationships, school work, hobbies, activities, religion, or work. The student knows they want to do something in life but indecision, inability to develop a vision, and distrust of the system cause them emptiness. This may cause them to appear isolated to their parents, as the student is certainly not communicating well with them. The student may have peer relationships with little value (just hanging around), may have no mentors, they may have weak knowledge of where success is available to them, and they may have little ability to articulate who they are and what means something to them. Most certainly they don’t have a picture in their mind of what their destination “looks like” and are relatively blindly seeking direction to something satisfying to them.

ADULTS: Are your objectives being accomplished? Are you experiencing frustration and or desire for change? Some of life’s challenges may encourage you to search for alternative solutions. Where are you turning for satisfaction and joy? Do you have healthy outlets that encourage positive behavior? As an adult do you have a clear view of your destination in life? Do you have a course of action you believe in? Do you have someone like a friend or mentor or coach encouraging you to follow it? But the plan if there is one is in disarray and the adult lacks accountability to following it. Since the plan is in-effective or there is none, the adult just fills their day with sameness hoping for a change that never comes. They feel rudderless. While they may be fun on the outside, they are desperate internally. They really want a solution to their frustration with life.

Sel listened to the sharp mechanical shutter click in his PDA phone as he snapped a photo of the bloody, but bandaged Raphsody, the sexual icon of what it was to be a vixen in Midian city, she had a reputation of being a dangerous flower, rough and ready, but with undeniable appeal, a sensuality beyond measure. He walks slowly towards the bed as he saved the photo. His phone had power since he was living outside the city, but it did no good when all others were dead that he would call. He didn't understand exactly why he bothered picking her up from the sidewalk after that shadow had dropped her there...he ruined a 5000 credit suit in the process, but he patched her up and took her home. His heart was very calloused, cold. He had lost nearly all emotion at the point, but something about the way Raphsody had used him as a security blanket when she was in a time of distress...it almost made him feel needed...like he had some purpose outside of seeing the destruction of Midian.

His dark form moved to the corner of the bed as he could feel the coldness stirring in his chest. The monster inside whispering to him the purposes of having her around, using her to his desires and will. He could indeed use her to anger Parx, make the man hate him so badly that he would never forgive him... He knew eventually Parx would betray him like all the rest, so he wanted to be the one delivering the blow, not receiving it.

Sel stands there quite some time, he remembered how vulnerable she was lying on top of the bar at the milk. He had patched her up there before insisting she come here where he could look after her. It made his inner desire for domination and power stir deep. He wanted to bend her to his purpose, to see such a strong one brought down, was a rare chance a victory over them. Deep down inside, the last vestiges of what was a good man screamed at him to do the right thing, to be there for her and comfort her in her time of need...to reunite her with Cora and Parx....but Selarin Perian...the monster, would have none of it.

As the light reflects across her body on the bed, it slowly moves towards him over time, but it almost seems to bend around him, as if the demons inside were warning it, forcing its rays away from him, telling it that he belonged to them now, and that they would destroy anything good that came near him. He chuckled at how ironic that was, he knew what was happening to him, and he was surrendering to it, he had been fighting it so long, he was simply tired he -wanted- to give in...and he was.

He slowly lifted his gaze up above the bed to his reflection in the window as it began to rain. His image began to blur and contort in the glass as it fogged slightly, but it didn't matter....he already didn't know the man in the reflection.

NYC Delivery Cyclist, Columbus Ave. @ 91st by Steve Vaccaro

This guy's doing the right thing, riding in the bike path. But I'd have to agree with those who say that delivery cyclists break the rules more often than commuters.

Its no mystery why, either. I don't think it has much to do with their level of education, ability to understand English, or other factors like that. It's their job to deliver stuff. They get paid more the more stuff they deliver. Just like cab drivers who drive recklessly to get to a fare first. They have a financial incentive to break the rules. Duh.

The people who like to complain about delivery cyclists should ask themselves: is that guy delivering my own meal? Or my neighbor's? When was the last time I told a delivery person, or the employing merchant, that I liked, or didn't like, the way the delivery people rode their bikes? And what have I done to help enact the only measure that has a realistic chance of changing the conduct of delivery cyclists--the pending legislation that would require their employers to pay the traffic summonses issued to them?

And if you really dislike the delivery cyclists, then stop ordering in! But at least stop sitting on your fat ass hating on all cyclists because what of the delivery cyclists bringing you your breakfast at 8:30 a.m. on a snowy morning are doing to get it to you faster!

Action must be taken to stop a tax system where wealthy companies and individuals can fiddle with the books while millions live in poverty and hunger. Donnie has made such improvements in the time he's been with us. He's a naturally reserved cat -- no surprise, really, since he and his buddy Duke were housed inside a small motor home for what I think was most of Donnie's life. (He's the younger of the two.) He's also declawed. A man had taken care of them out there since his wife didn't want them in the house. I'm not sure it was the best of care, given they came to us with 8-10 flea collars on EACH of them. But he evidently tried and thought he was doing the right thing. But when he died, his wife just dumped them at Petco saying she wasn't about to deal with them.

Donnie, it turned out, had also managed to eat some netting -- we think while in the motor home, mostly because we can't think of anywhere else he would have had access to something like this -- which made him get very sick. He had exploratory surgery to find out what was going on, and the wad of netting was found. Since that was removed, Donnie's health has improved in leaps and bounds (it's so nice to see him eating well and not vomiting). But he is still a timid cat. Very friendly, very gentle, you can reach to pet him with no problem whatsoever and he's a lap cat, but he gets nervous. I took this photo of him on Susanne's lap (he walked into her lap all on his own, I was so proud of him) last Saturday.

This Friday, though, I was helping out as a replacement since one of the regular people couldn't make the shift. And when Jackie was bringing Donnie back to his cage, he suddenly spooked and got loose from her, crashing into the shelves nearby. Since we are in a large retail store and do not want the cats getting loose or potentially out the big doors that open whenever someone walks near them, especially a cat who would be as scared as Donnie, we both dove to catch him. Position-wise, it just turned out that I was near his head and Jackie was near his tail. I got a good scruff on him, but the angle I was coming from meant that he was able to twist in his panic and bite me twice. I got him back in his kennel, promptly did appropriate first aid -- let them bleed, run water over them, don't staunch/bandage -- and then got myself over to urgent care.

So I have 7 punctures between my hands. Despite having 4 more holes than the first time I was bitten about two years ago and bites on both hands instead of one (that time completely my own fault and happened in my own home), these are easier to manage than the last time. And the doctor was so happy with my first aid and getting over there right away that she didn't try to give me the 3-day IV antibiotic (*shudder*) and I didn't need any shots (since I got a tetanus two years ago). I'm just on an oral antibiotic and band-aids. And no nerves were hit this time. So they're sore and a nuisance, but not too disabling.

And poor Donnie. Not his fault, he was so scared. He peed on Jackie at the same time he was biting me. Having both of us grabbing him made him even more scared, but we couldn't let him get loose. I got a report after Saturday's shift that he was doing okay, so I'm glad. I'll see him on Tuesday and will give him lots of love. I'm going to need an extra person to go in for set-up and tear-down, because I don't think I'll be able to manage the pens, but I can do the middle stuff.

Haven't tried holding my camera yet, but photos will likely be scarce for a little while.

At Wells Fargos' world headquarters in San Francisco, dozens locked down in front of the banks' iconic stagecoach the day before its' annual shareholders meeting.

This year, Wells Fargo, Citibank and Bank of America all face historic shareholder resolutions calling on the banks to take the climate impacts of their investments more seriously. While the bank boards are advising the shareholders to vote against these resolutions, actions across the country are sending a different message. Do the right thing - Support these resolutions. Invest in our futures, not climate chaos.

Roughly 20 people were arrested at this action.
