“For when the One Great Scorer comes

To write against your name,

He marks not that you won or lost

But how you played the game.” (Grantland Rice)

Every competition and game does not end up until and unless the winner is not being announced. Prizes and rewards are always given at the end of the ceremony. The Hajvery University followed the same custom to motivate the young, talented and energetic winners of the sports week. At one side the winners were being appreciated by giving prizes and rewards whereas on the other side the runners up were being encouraged for not to be disappointed.

The HU’s sports society and management held a spectacular Sports Week Prize Distribution Ceremony on Tuesday, 24th April 2012. It was an astonishing piece of coordination. A number of sports events were held during the five days Sports Gala in which a large number of club members participated with zeal and enthusiasm. The crowd was really hilarious that day. They were making loud bangs. Everywhere there was noise of whistling, and slogans. Students were also holding different play cards to motivate their respective teams. It was an absolute colorful overview of fun and excitement.

The sports event held included Counter Strike (Networking Game), Tug of War, Badminton (Single, Double, Single), Cricket, Football, Ludo, Volley Ball, Table Tennis and Chess etc. Mr. Umer Sheikh, the Director of International Linkages and General (Ret.) Muhammad Latif, The Director examination of HU, were specifically being invited as the Guests of Honor. The Chief Guests commended the organizers as well as students sports society for arranging such lively sports activities that are a requisite for promoting a healthy society. They also added that sports rejuvenates body, sharpens skills, enlivens spirits and produces agility and strength in body and mind. At the end of the ceremony they distributed shields, certificates and gold medals amongst the winners and the runners-up.

Women Rewarded Solar Lights for Adult Literacy

Solar Lantern Distribution To Adult Women PEP TANDOALLAHYAR Oct12th, 2017

Pakistan has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. The general understanding of literacy in Pakistan is the ability to read and write and unluckily, millions of people in Pakistan are dispossessed of even this. The situation seems even worse when we look into the urban-rural divide. In rural Sindh, women are most deprived of education due to cultural customs which has created gender inequality and has deprived women to have a voice in the society. Through Adult Literacy Education, Primary Education project PEP is on to change that.

Female Adult Literacy program was initiated in 2016. At present PEP is running 26 Female Adult Literacy (FAL) Centers with 316 Female Adult Literacy members (Adult Students) in different areas of rural Sindh as follows,

Khipro48

Mirpurkhas47

Khawaja Goth7

Tando Allahyar80

Tando Ghulam Ali134

There are 6 area officers and 1 WEP coordinator for the implementing and monitoring of the adult literacy program.

As a gesture of appreciation Pervaiz Lodhie President and founder LEDtronics Inc. offered a special gift of a Solar Powered LED Solar Light to the 316 student and 7 program officers.

Funding for the solar lights was provided by one of gentleman from USA. His name is not mentioned here on his advice.

First distribution ceremony was held on Thursday October 12, 2017 in Shaleemabad, Achaar Khaskeli & Shanti Nagar ALCs located in Tando Allahyar districts.

Lt. Gen (Retd.) Syed Perwaiz Shahid a renowned educationist was chief guest for the event.

Ms. Lillian Charles Program Manager PEP and other team members from PEP were present in the event.

During the ceremony 72 female students received solar lanterns. PEP will organize another event in Hyderabad for the distribution of remaining solar lights in November 2017.

Sears Roebuck & Company Catalog Distribution Center and Retail Store

Memphis, Tennessee

Listed 12/18/2013

Reference Number: 13000954

The Sears Roebuck & Company Catalog Distribution Center and Retail Store (Sears Crosstown or Crosstown) is eligible for individual listing in the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion A in the area of commerce as a representative of an important phase in the development of one of Americas major retailers, during which Sears dramatically changed the way it served customers. The buildings period of significance extends from its construction in 1927 to 1967, shortly after the detached garage was built and the Crosstown building was at its peak, with over 2,000 employees. Around 1958, the importance of the Sears Crosstown store was starting to be eclipsed as a retail center by Sears newer store at Laurelwood on Perkins Extended at Poplar Avenue. Construction of the garage in 1964 was an effort to retain the Crosstown stores importance for retail sales. Although the period of significance extends a few years past the fifty-year age limit, it reflects a more accurate timeframe, encompassing the main building and the garage, and shows the efforts the Sears company made for several years to maintain the viability of the Crosstown store.
