As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.
The photo was taken using the camera App Mattebox for iPhone. The original image can be found below.
First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. The edits were made by cloning away the Guard rail near the bottom of the image as well as the newer windows and building in the background of the picture. Next I added a little more texture to the image using the Ancient filter in HDR Art. Finally I used the App Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Lazarus Texture.
The original photo was taken early this evening in the Much Park Street area of Coventry City Centre. The image is of a mysterious Medieval Sandstone building dated to about the late 13th or early 14th century. In a strange twist of fate the building was actually discovered in the aftermath of a bomb blast during the blitz on Coventry in the Second World War. Most of the buildings in the street were destroyed but this shell of the building remained after all the other more modern buildings burned down around it. There is not a lot known about the origins of this rectangular shaped building. It is thought that it was either a Merchant's house or in some way connected to the nearby Whitefriars friary. Archaeologists found pottery from the 13th and 14th centuries when the site around the House was excavated in 1971.
The Medieval Ruin is classed as a Grade II* listed building. It is number 18 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. The edits were made by cloning away the Cars from the street and the dustbins from outside the house. Next I used a Custom preset with the app Tangled FX to help blend some of the details into a more artistic look. After that I used the app called Mextures to apply some extra lighting and textures to the image. The Layers that I applied were, Vignette, Mulberry, Ford Screen, Leaker and the Sunflower Overlay. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Lade Texture.
The original photo was taken at lunchtime today in George Elliot Road, which is in the Foleshill area of Coventry. The image is of Bird Grove House. This two storey house with a welsh slate roof and Stucco walls was built in the 19th Century. Bird Grove House was a former residence of Mary Ann Evans, who was more famously known as The novelist George Eliot. She moved here with her Father in 1841 when she was 21 years old and lived there for 8 years. After her Father died in 1849 Mary Ann moved away from Coventry to London. Where she had her first Novel published in 1857 under the Pen name George Eliot.
The building is classed as Grade II* listed. It is number 24 and the last on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

Finally I used the App Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Egret overlay and the Whispers Texture.
The original photo was taken early this evening. It is of the Old Blue Coat School. The building was originally built and opened in 1714 as the first Charity School for girls in Coventry. The current building was opened in 1857 after been rebuilt on the same site. The site was originally part of the original St Mary's Cathedral (the first of Coventry's three Cathedrals). The evidence of this can be seen today in the cellars of the building which are actually inside one of the original pillars of the Cathedral, these date back to around 1150AD.
The building is is a Grade II* Listed building and is number 2 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry.

The Warning is a 2003 sculpture by Eric Richard in Santa Paula, California, in memorial of the 1928 St. Frances Dam collapse. After the middle of the night collapse, frantic phone calls alerted police in Santa Paula. Motorcycle officers Thornton Edwards and Stanley Baker alerted residents to head to higher ground. The two officers and others are credited with saving hundreds of lives. Still about. 500 people died in the disaster. Fo this image I started with a 2023 photo taken with the Bluristic iPhone app, then used DistressedFX and Snapseed. LRM-005

The original photo was taken this morning in the village of Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. The image is of the parish Church of St Mary the Virgin. The church is situated in the south of the village, near to the River Sowe. It was originally of Norman design and dates back to about the first half of the 12th century. The church which is mainly built of red sandstone, has seen many repairs and additions over the the years. The South Aisle is one such example, it was added to the church during the 14th Century. It is thought that the Font may even predate the Norman church. It dates back to either the late 11th or early 12th Century. It is said to have been brought over to the church from Maxstoke Priory.

The original photo was taken this morning. It is of the remains of the Whitefriars friary just outside the city centre of Coventry. The Friary founded in 1342 with the backing of Sir John Poultney and was Home to Carmelite friars. The name 'Whitefriars' was used for the friary due to the colour of the friars' habits. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries during King Henry VIII's reign, the ownership passed to John Hales and served as the First King Henry VIII School, Coventry, before the school moved to it's second home in St John's Hospital, Coventry. The building was last used by Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry to house museum records and artifacts.
The Friary is classed as a Grade I listed building. The Friary is number 5 on my list of 19 (Grade I) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.
