July 5, 2025: Sports car leaving Conejo Valley Cars and Coffee event at The Oaks in Thousand Oaks, California. Photo taken with Bluristic iPhone app then textured with Distrested FX and Snapseed.

As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.

The photo was taken using the camera App KitCam for iPhone. This app was one of two apps (the other being PhotoForge 2) made by the company GhostBird Software. The company has now just been purchased by Yahoo and will be bringing the GhostBird apps and editing technology to the Flickr team. The original image can be found below.

First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. The edits were made by cloning away a few street bollards and a waste bin. Next I used PhotoToaster to brighten up the image using the Add Flash preset, the Super Sharp FX, a Medium dark Vignette, the Canvas Texture and finally the black inset frame. I then used an app called Mextures to apply some extra lighting and textures to the image. This time I used a built-in Preset called Horace provided by Michael Tucker. After that I used ShockMyPic to help give the image an arty look. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Lade Texture.

The original photo was taken late this afternoon in Spon Street, Coventry City Centre. The image is of a few of the Medieval buildings that form the South side of Spon Street. What is unusual about a lot of these buildings is that although they of of Medieval origin, they formerly stood in other streets in area. The nearest building in the image, number 9, (the Jewellers) dates back to the 15th Century and originally stood in Much Park Street (near to Whitefriars Gate). The buildings furthest away in this image, numbers 14 and 15 are original to Spon Street. Just the same as with yesterday's image of Berkswell Church, this street was featured on TV yesterday (12th June) as part of an ITV Comedy/Drama series called 'Love And Marriage'. The series is based in and filmed around the Coventry area.

Here is a little something festive. We always go down to Simi Valley CA (about 40 minutes NE of LA), to visit my wife's sister for the holidays. As we were preparing to leave SF, i called out to my son Miles if he was ready to go and he walked out of his room with that outfit. He just had this original holiday hipster look and I just had to capture it. I broke out the softbox light and had him take a couple of different poses. I wasn't sure how I was going to treat the image, but I knew I wanted to do something like/in the spirit of Maria Matthews portraits which I admire so much.

The image today was taken this afternoon in the Historic Spon Street area of Coventry City Centre. The view is of number 20-21 Spon Street. Currently empty this fine old building of two halves was originally the Green Dragon Inn located in Much Park Street, a different part of Coventry. The oldest part of this building is the rear section. This dates back to about 1450 and was used as the Hall of the Inn along with guest chambers. The front part of the building dates back to about the year 1500 and was a newer addition, built on the site of an earlier Hall house. The whole building was dismantled from its original location in 1972. It was rebuilt here in Spon Street in 1981-1982 as part of the ambitious Historic Townscape scheme for Spon Street.

The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Handy Photo to edit the photo. I used the retouch feature to delete a couple of commercial bins from the side of the building, along with the TV aerial on the roof and a couple of alarm boxes and lights from the front of the building. I also used the same app to apply the Polarised filter to the image. Next I used the app Stackables to apply the formula called Seasons. I then used the app DistressedFX to add the Stirred overlay and the Lade texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights preset, the Drama FX and a Medium Dark Vignette. I then applied the Old Paper texture and the Antique frame.

The photo was taken using the camera App Mattebox for iPhone. The original image can be found below.

First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. The edits were made by cloning away the more modern elements from the Gate, such as the TV aerial, the railings at the side of the image, the For Sale/To Let sign and the Boarded up windows (I did try to add windows in but there did not look right). Next I cropped the image and applied the Old Photo filter still using the app Handy Photo. Next I used the App Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the HDR overlay and the Lade Texture. Finally I passed the image through the app Altphoto using the Expired (pink highlights) Toy Camera Frame.

The original photo was taken in the Much Park Street area of Coventry City centre. The image is of Whitefriars Gate. This Gatehouse was an outer Gateway leading to the Whitefriars friary. It was built during the 14th Century. Ron Morgan gave the Gatehouse one of it's more recent uses by turning the building into as a Toy Museum in 1973. After Ron died in 2007 the city council closed the Gatehouse and started further restorations of the building. The Gatehouse was set on fire by arsonists in 2009. The roof and floors in the back were damaged. The building is currently for Sale or To Let on a long Lease via Coventry City Council.

The Gatehouse is classed as a Grade II* listed building. The Gate is number 12 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

First of all I used Snapseed to edit the photo. The edits were made by sharpening the image and then adding some extra Ambiance and Saturation. I then applied the Drama number 2 filter to the picture to boost the sky in the image. Finally I used the App Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Birds Soulmate overlay and the Charm Texture.

The original photo was taken this afternoon. It is one of the lakes that make up the Tocil Pool and Wetlands area, on the edge of the campus of Warwick University.

Backstory: I have always been intrigued by the look ȯf vines growing on walls. Recently, I was captivated by a scene of a single vine creeping up a stucco wall. Initially, I produced that minimalist image, but decided that I would expand and create an ethereal look using distressedfx for color and textures, along with icolorama for a painterly effect. Imageblender allowed me to mingle both, resulting in an image of a vine floating in the sky.

First of all I used the app Perfectly Clear to brighten the image. The edits were made by applying the Fix Dark preset to the image. Next I used the App Wood Camera to edit the image further, this was done by cropping the image and adding the Birds to the picture using Frame 14. I also adjusted the Saturation, brightness and Contrast. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Lade Texture.

The original photo was taken this evening while waiting for my daughter to finish her Choir service at Coventry Cathedral. It is of Holy Trinity Church in the Cathedral quarter in the city centre of Coventry. The original church was built about the beginning of the 12th century. It seems that the church was built as a side chapel for the much larger Benedictine Priory of St Mary (the First of Coventry's Three Cathedral's) which was next door to Holy Trinity and founded by Earl Leofric and Lady Godiva. During the Mid 13th Century the church was nearly completely destroyed in a fire, the only part of the original church to survive was the North Porch (which survives to this day). During the 15th Century the painting of the Last Judgement was created above the tower arch. This is now considered to be most impressive Doom wall-painting now remaining in an English church. One of the many famous local people known to attend Holy Trinity over the years was Mary Ann Evans, the 19th century novelist better known by her pen name of George Eliot.

The Church is classed as a Grade I listed building. The Church is number 8 on my list of 19 (Grade I) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

First of all I used the app PhotoToaster to edit the image. The edits were made by straightening the photo then applying the Warm filter, Vibrant FX, a medium white Vignette, the Canvas texture and the Torn Canvas frame to the image. Finally I used the App Distressed FX to add the birds and extra texture to the image using the Birds Soulmate overlay and the Charm Texture.

The original photo was taken this afternoon in the Walsgrave area of Coventry. The image is of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. The original Church dates back to 1300 however there is no trace of the original Church visible. It is estimated that the Church was completely rebuilt during in the 13th or 14th century. There was also major restorations in the 19th and 20th centuries. One of the most important interior features of the Church is the early Font. This probably dates back to the early 12th century. Another fixture of special interest is the Medieval glass (approx 14th century) in the east window of the south aisle.

The Church is classed as a Grade II* listed building. The building is number 14 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. This was done by erasing out some of the rubbish found in the pond. I then adjusted the Brightness, Saturation and Shadows/Highlights of the image. Next I used the app called Dynamic Light to apply the Orton filter to the picture so that it gave a dreamy sort of glow to the whole image. After that I used Distressed FX to add some extra texture to the image using the Egret overlay and the Karma Texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to apply the Canvas texture and add the Shadow II frame.

The original photo was taken in Pig Wood in the Tile Hill area of Coventry. It was both of my Daughter's last day of school before the Summer holiday and as I had finished work early, I was waiting to pick them up at the end of their day. Pig Wood is a small urban nature reserve near to the school and as I was a little early I thought I would see if there was any Photos I could take and use for today's image. I found this little pond and liked the look of the trees around the edge of it. The pond was in a bit of a mess with bottles and other rubbish in it, which was a shame. As I liked the look of the pond I thought I would see what I could do to make it look better, so snap there we go. Hope you all like the result.

Back Story: this image is one of many that I captured while in paradise, on the island of Hawaii. So much beauty.

Later, I was inspired by the concept of parallel lines. I reinvented my image using iColorama, forms, to get a double exposure, then watercolor. Then, I created texture and ambience with distressed FX. I ran it through Simply Water and image blended it back with the iColorama image to get the final version.

I like how the juxtaposition of the images create a crossroads; Wonderful lines. A surreal Parallel universe.
