Throwback Thursday to my life in Japan back in 2006-2007. I went over to Tokyo from Nagoya during Golden Week and found this giant spider sculpture "Maman" by Louise Bourgeois in Roppongi Hills. Notice she is carrying eggs!

Today's image was taken this Morning in the Binley area of Coventry. It is a view of St Bartholomew's Church. This Grade I listed church was built between 1771-3 for The then Lord Craven of the nearby Combe Abbey. It now serves the parish of Binley. The current Church replaced an earlier one which was was known as St. Swithin’s. The most notable features in the Church stand as a reminder of links to the Craven family. Their coat of arms can be seen above the sanctuary, and the Craven Chapel was used in the past almost exclusively by their family & household.

The photo was taken using the App Camera Awesome on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Lightroom to edit the picture. I cropped and straightened the image. Then I corrected the White balance. I added the Dynamic colour preset along with some Clarity and noise reduction. Next I used the app Painteresque to add the Painteresque 2 paint preset. I then used DistressedFX to add the Stirred overlay and the Vanilla texture. Finally I used the app AltPhoto to add the Portrait Colour film preset and frame.

I bought the vintage tin sign in New Orleans at least ten years ago.

Today's image is of the Grade II listed Canley Hall. It is an early 18th century house that is one of the oldest in the area. The building is now classed as being historically at risk, due in no part to it being boarded up and disused for over 20 years. I find that to be a real shame as it could make for a stunning house once restored.

The photo was taken using the app ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Painteresque to edit the image. I applied the Painteresque 2 preset to the picture. Next I used DistressedFX to crop the image and add the Cole overlay and the Vanilla texture. I flattened the image, then added the Cole overlay and Vanilla texture again. Finally I used AltPhoto to add the Expired (pink highlights) Toy Camera preset and boarder.

Today's image was taken this earlier this afternoon in the village of Berkswell. It is a view of the Tower section of St John the Baptist parish Church. The Grade I building was originally constructed in the 12th Century and is of Norman design. There is evidence though of an even earlier Saxon church on this site, as part of the crypt beneath the church dates back to the 8th century.

The photo was taken using the app ProCamera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped and straightened the image, then applied both the Tonal Contrast and Vintage 08 preset. I decreased the highlights and increased the sharpness and structure. After this I boosted the saturation and ambiance. Next I used the app Painteresque to apply the Painteresque 2 painterly preset. I then used DistressedFX to add the Stirred overlay and the Sentiment texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights Preset, the Stark FX, a medium dark vignette. I then added the Paper texture and the Leather frame.

An antique glass mosaic pendant from Italy which I have had since I was a young girl. It was broken so I decided to repair and revamp the piece into something wearable. I added the decorative chain and the moss aquamarine gemstone. The books are very old.

Today's image was taken this evening in my Kitchen at home. This is my little homage to World Photography Day. The view is of my Olympus Pen E-PL1 Micro Four-Thirds Camera. This is a camera that I have had for a couple of years but have not used much (due mainly to my self imposed use of my iPhone to take all my photos for the 365 project). World Photography day celebrates the birth of the Daguerreotype Photographic process. The patent for the process was purchased in 1839 by the French Government and released to the world as a Free gift on 19th August of the same year. The Daguerreotype process was not the first photographic process (the first was Heliography in 1826). The Daguerreotype was however the first practical photographic process.

The photo was taken using the app Hydra on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped the image. I then applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I also boosted the Structure and sharpness a little. After this I added a vignette to the image. Next I used the app DistressedFX to apply the Ansel overlay and the Lade texture. Finally I used the app AltPhoto to add the Daguerreotype B&W Vintage preset and border to the image.

A vintage style cabinet card with a Christmas theme.

The cabinet card was large enough to be easily viewed from across the room when typically displayed on a cabinet, which is probably why they became known as such in the vernacular. However, when the renowned Civil War photographer Mathew Brady first started offering them to his clientele towards the end of 1865, he used the trademark "Imperial Carte-de-Visite." Whatever the name, the popular print format joined the photograph album as a fixture in the late 19th-century Victorian parlor.

Backstory: this image was photographed at the end of the day while walking the beach at a very low tide. Patches of water, illuminated, reflected and decorated by the gorgeous clouds and sky, remained along the shore. There were few people this day, and thankfully, one man happened to position himself in the glimmering water with an audience of small waterfowl.

The staging was perfect. I shot a long view of this beach scene and created a moody, contemplative, painteresque (with distressedfx) vision to celebrate the moment.

Timing is everything: low tide, gorgeous clouds, pools of water, birds and an unsuspecting model created a perfect stage.
