I was captivated by the irregularities of these doors. They make poor subjects for testing the distortion of my lens. I had a hard time to decide whether I should take a wide view or a close up. I decided to take a wide view to showcase the distortion.

Some of the clouds on the horizon appear distorted vertically probably due to refraction conditions in the lower troposphere.
I have only seen this phenomenon once before.
Reflections can be interesting.
A slight change in angle brings a completely different distortion.

When you get tired of looking at old stuff in old buildings, sometimes the tourists/visitors become more interesting.
I had a great laugh taking this one--these people seemed to have no idea I was photographing them. I stood smack in front, almost waiting for someone to reprimand me, and aimed straight at them but they probably thought I was photographing the architectural details.

As the calm water hits the falls it pulls the reflection and distorts it making an interesting contrast between the rough and the smooth

On Saturdays I go to Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, California, for meditation. The garden has a wooden arch bridge spanning over a pond. The reflections and distortions caught my eyes.
I processed a balanced, a paintery and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposures, merged them selectively, carefully pulled the curves and adjusted the color balance.

I have seen the distortion caused by the glass shade on this candle stand almost every morning and thought, "There is a picture there." This morning I decided it was time to do something about it, and here is the result.
