Smile on Saturday: Eyeglasses
It was a tough choice ! I loved how these distorted frames moved and changed in the water.
"No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody or something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”
― Vladimir Nabokov
Molchat Doma - Toska
Canalside reflections, as seen in the previous image, with added soft focus/diffusion in processing.
This is the first of the Distortion Jewels series that I have a upscaled in hand retouched. Zoom in, you will see a much, much higher level of smooth detail than any of the past images.
Playing with my Rokinon 8mm Fisheye Ultra Wide Angle lens to get used to what it can do. Here I'm looking out over the lava flow on the northeast point at Iona's Beach Scientific and Natural Area (SNA) on Lake Superior, north of Two Harbors, Minnesota.
Once upon a time, this place was once the site of a charming mom & pop resort called Twin Points Resort. Iona Lind, her husband John and their children ran the resort for over 50 years. Iona kept on for a short time after her husband passed away in the 1980's.
When Iona died, she donated the land and it ended up in the hands of Minnesota's DNR.
Iona's Beach SNA is about halfway between Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse State Parks on Minnesota's legendary, historic Highway 61.

While in Albuquerque, New Mexico, we visited the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History. Very interesting museum. It has a fascinating depiction of the development of the nuclear bomb during WWII and the development of additional nuclear weapons and nuclear power. Outside are several acres of planes and jets. This a F16 Fighting Falcon restored with the help of the New Mexico Air National Guard. I added to it by experimenting with the distortion capabilities of Photoshop.
Happy Slider Sunday!
"Zen masters say you cannot see your reflection in running water, only in still water."
Quote - Elizabeth Gilbert
The water is still a little bit frozen and that gives this beautiful distortion.
