This week our vocabularies expanded to include new terms, such as "social distancing." We didn't chose this scenario, but it chose us and here we are. Looking out for ourselves and the rest of human society will disrupt to our normal routines for a while. But life goes on, and part of that life for me involves photography. I know. Other things are more important. But let's leave a bit of space for activities that allow us to experience moments of normalcy in the midst circumstances that are not normal at all.
Yesterday I decided to head out to a quiet place where there would be few other people. I loaded my car with supplies so that I wouldn't have to stop along the way, headed out well before dawn, and a couple hours later I was in a familiar, quiet place. The best thing that happened? Just after I arrived, a couple of dear friends showed up, too! We elbow-bumped (another of the new social practices) and went off to photograph one more beautiful dawn.

I really like high up views. Being able to see many miles in the distance as always appealed to me. I’m fortunate that I live in an area where it’s quite easy to access long distance views. This particular view isn’t that high but I would bet that anyone who comes here would be impressed, personally I think it’s a fantastic view, it never disappoints me.
Huge crop so not great quality, obviously I had to keep my distance ( was maybe 300 feet away ) but absolutely thrilled ' my ' peregrines raised 4 chicks that all fledged, first time I've seen peregrines at the nest and boy do they make a lot of noise ! Was there every day once I found where the nest was and saw two of them fledge, dreamland having them entirely to myself. Long gone now, wonder where they'll end up ? The ravens raised 5 chicks too, it's like an unofficial nature reserve, pretty sure sand martins, kestrels and buzzards also nested. Not to mention all the water birds and songbirds, it's heaven.

靈姿理雲鬂 the weaver girl dressed up,
仙駕度潢流 and she started to meet the cowherd from the end of the space.
窈窕鳴衣玉 rustling sounds of her silk was like an jewel,
玲瓏映彩舟 she sparkled by her expectations on the bright ship.
所悲明日夜 but now she feels very sadness because he can't live together anymore,
誰慰別離憂 no one can solace her grief of parting.

Sixty years ago in senior high school, my school days were full of athletics, cross-country in the fall, basketball during the winter and track in the spring. Leaving for school early on spring mornings for a nearly hour long bus ride, my school day passed quickly with fevered nonsense with friends and sparring with teachers but ended up with many tiring runs around our quarter mile track. Exhausted and arriving home as the sun was setting, I found the distance from the end of our lane to the barn to do chores the longest distance as the exhilaration of the day ebbed away.
Driving home from Chester I decided to exit the M6 and take the Sedberge Hawes route, and I'm glad I did, It's going to be this way from now on

There was a lot of activity along the Sheboygan yesterday, including more than 35 cormorants. I had never seen so many at one time. Rumor has it that the smelt (a small fish) are running. Both the cormorants and the Napoleon gulls have turned out in large numbers for the event.
I'll post more photos tomorrow.
