In May 2022, social distancing became the norm. Entering shops required pausing at taped lines two meters apart, as only a limited number of customers could enter at once. Initially, during the pandemic, some people wore masks and gloves, but most did not, partly because they were not readily available and government advice on their effectiveness, particularly outdoors, was ambiguous.
Many were eager to engage in conversation, and my camera served as a conversation starter.
In the UK, a notable immediate change involved Prime Minister Johnson urging those unable to work from home, such as construction workers, to return to their jobs from Monday, while avoiding public transport.
The prevailing message shifted from "Stay Home" to "Stay Alert."
Schools remained shut, with plans to reopen primary schools in June 2020.
Restaurants and cafes were expected to stay closed until at least July 2020.
The allowance of unlimited exercise, participation in some sports, and meeting one other person outdoors was introduced.

Lighting details: one Alien Bees B400 monolight at 1/16th power with standard reflector, camera left, approx. 30-40 degrees from focal plane, at distance specified in title.
Shutter speed at max sync speed, 1/250th. Aperture varied to provide appropriate exposure at each distance (again, see title).
Strobe triggered by sync cord. I would have used my speedlights but the 420EX doesn't seem to want to fire as a slave in manual mode.
This is an exercise, not intended to be art or even a decent setup. :)
Materials: I used a camera and lightroom to take this photo.
Idea: I wanted this photo to make people wonder what he is looking at.
Process: First, I had my subject stand in a specific area where no people would be in the background, then I configured my settings and took the photo. To edit this photo, I increased the exposure and masked the background to give it a blurry effect.
Exercise 1.2 of lighting 102. Flash distance far, medium and close. Exposure adjusted manually to try and maintain same exposure. Dog's name Rooney courtesy of my daughter!

Distance is an important aspect in today’s world. With the evolution of technology it is easier to travel to distant locations. Even though values have changed and travelling has become a new way of life, it is always difficult to live far away from the people you care most in the world. I created a bridge, because it is something that connects one place to another; just like the strength in a relationship can make the value of distance decrease. On the other hand, with the use of prospective this bridge seems never ending. Therefore, making it harder for people to survive with the long distance between them. The use of black and white creates a certain simplicity to the art piece, making it easier to convey a message.
