Extra space for pedestrians and segregated cycle lanes for cyclists to help social distancing and those using foot or bike to avoid public transport during the Covid crisis.

3 - A diptych

I've taken a shot like this before but when I was looking through my archives I realised I actually liked the way the distance between the two people adds to the composition. So here it is....

This is another perspective of the popular scene in the movie "Forrest Gump". Not only do you get the feel for the open distance of the highway, but you also get a feel for the wide expanse of Monument Valley.

Description

I had fun on this shoot, so many angles and compositions in these fascinating rocks. I used a 15 second exposure to capture movement in the water, catching quite a bit but not enough that it blurs totally smooth. The water was really crashing against the rocks, causing the rocks to shine a lot from being wet. I had to wipe my ND grad quite a bit as water kept on splashing from the rocks.

Here is the last Super Moon of year 2014, this September 8th from Mont St-Gregoire, Quebec, Canada.

What is a Super Moon?

The distance from moon to Earth varies throughout the month and year. On average the distance is about 238,000 miles (382,900 kilometers). During a month, when the moon is farthest away from Earth it's called apogee, when the moon is closest to Earth it is called perigee. When the full moon coincides with being closest to Earth, or perigee, it is called a Super Moon. Tonight Moon is 357 000 km far away from Earth.

The "Super Moon" is 14% larger and 30% more clear than usually. What it allows to get more precise pictures of a best quality.

Next Super Moons will be on August, September and October of 2015.

N.B. What is a Harvest Super Moon? This is when the Super Moon coincides with the Automn equinox day (September 20-21st). Then we call it a "HARVEST SUPER MOON". This one was on September 8th. Therefore this was not a Harvest Super Moon. :)

Just a lone tree on a field. Thanks a lot for watching 👍

I have posted a few shots of Beverley Minister in the past but always from some distance. Finally here is a close up of the Church. The minster is set in the middle of the town and there is really only one place you can capture the whole building, fortunately the light was good on this particular December morning. The town of Beverley is only six miles from Hull it’s wonderful to have such a architectural masterpiece so close at hand

A little history of the Minster

The Minster owes its origin and much of its subsequent importance to Saint John of Beverley, who founded a monastery locally around 700 AD and whose bones still lie beneath a plaque in the nave. The institution grew after his death and underwent several rebuildings. After a serious fire in 1188, the subsequent reconstruction was overambitious; the newly heightened central tower collapsed c. 1213 bringing down much of the surrounding church. Work on the present structure began around 1220.

It took 200 years to complete building work but, despite the time scale involved, the whole building has coherent form and detail and is regarded as one of the finest examples of Perpendicular design, the twin towers of the west front being a superlative example. These formed the inspiration for the design of the present Westminster Abbey.

Maggie Hambling's scallop, Aldeburgh

On Aldeburgh's beach, a short distance north of the town centre, stands a sculpture, The Scallop, dedicated to Benjamin Britten, who used to walk along the beach in the afternoons. Created from stainless steel by Suffolk-based artist Maggi Hambling, it stands 15 feet (4.6 m) high, and was unveiled in November 2003.[19] The piece is made up of two interlocking scallop shells, each broken, the upright shell being pierced with the words: "I hear those voices that will not be drowned", which are taken from Britten's opera Peter Grimes. The sculpture is meant to be enjoyed both visually and tactilely, and people are encouraged to sit on it and watch the sea. Approached along the road from the Thorpeness direction it has a totally different silhouette appearing to be a knight on a rearing charger.

The sculpture is controversial in the local area,[20] with some local residents considering it spoiling the beach.[19] It has been vandalised with graffiti and paint on 13 occasions.[19] There have been petitions for its removal and for its retention.[19]

It was a rather cold day at home, but Pismo Beach was quite all right! Everybody seemed to be holding their social distance, though... Possibly something to do with the omikron virus...😷

Long vistas abound, especially along Montana highway 261 in northern Wibaux County. This is a good example of many of the roads upon which I now haul freshwater for a variety of oil field applications in both North Dakota and Montana (8-12-2014).

A setting looking to the east while taking in views across the Nevada and then Utah high desert. This is while walking the Mountain View Nature Trail in Great Basin National Park. Off in the distance are ridges and peaks of the House Range with Notch Peak being the most easily identified in the image center.

SIne the I began photography I have liked the idea of a small camera with the quality of bigger cameras. I am not overly keen on the bulk and noise of SLR cameras yet do appreciate their versatility. I use mostly Olympus OM and a Pentax MX for SLR photograpy.

What I like best is a pocketable camera offering control and a good lens. In 1980 I heard of the Olympus XA cameras and was saving up for one then lost my after school job and had to wait some years before buying an XA.

The Minox EL has needed attention to give it a working shutter and reliable metering, when working well it's lens produces immages full of detail and feel.

Yoshihisa Maitani did not like the complexity and potential for unreliability pop out lenses give, both the XA and Pen D have fixed lenses and are spot on for reliability. Of the two I prefer the Pen D it is designed like the Rollei 35 to be operated first from the view of the top plate, the exposure and focus are set this way on both then its up to the eye and the phograph is made.

Heinz Waaske used innavative design with quality engineering for the Rollei 35. Like the Pen D the Rollei 35 feels good with a satisfying mechanical feel in use.

The aperture priority automatic cameras here offer convinience of setting exposure and in most circumstances are accurate. The XA's rangefinder patch is small and I use it as a distance estimation camera most of the time like the other three. Maitiani thoughtfully designed the distance scale window to be viewed from the top and it works well like this.
