Greater Manchesters third Leyland Titan storms through Piccadilly bus station in April 1985 having arrived from Stockport. Of the 190 Titans originally ordered only fifteen were to materialise and this one was the first of five to be powered by Leylands TL11 engine. Indeed the five were the first buses in the GMT fleet to feature a turbocharged engine, the remaining ten having Gardners naturally aspirated 6LXB unit. Initially allocated to Birchfields Road garage it was soon dispatched to Stockport to join the other four so as to keep all the Leyland powered vehicles together. The Gardner vehicles would later settle at the tiny garage at Glossop after briefly working five apiece from Birchfields and Oldham.

The Grand Canyon Regional Communication Center (GCRCC) is the primary 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point and dispatch operation for Grand Canyon, the Town of Tusayan, Arizona, Tusayan Fire Department, and portions of Coconino County.
The 9-1-1 Center which operates 24/7, 365 days a year and is staffed by eight dispatchers and one center manager, provides dispatch services for all of Grand Canyon as well as for Montezuma Castle National Monument, Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma’s Well, Tonto National Monument, Petroglyph National Monument, and Pecos National Historical Park.
Did you know GCRCC processes approximately 8,000 calls for service each year? A ‘Call for Service’ is an event called in or received by the 9-1-1 dispatch center that requires documentation by a dispatcher and that may need a response or action taken by Rangers, Dispatch, EMS, Fire, Search and Rescue, or other NPS personnel, such as the maintenance staff, wildlife staff, etc. Each year, around 40,000 total phone calls are answered and over 700,000 radio calls are answered/monitored from the park's radio system.

It seems as though every time I get close to Bristol temple Meads Station someone decides to put on a visit by a steam train. Off to see the Lovely Lillput and was, fortuitously, early and had the chance to see this train pull in and depart for Exeter. Steam specials are becoming so frequent now that it won't be long before the rail network will be fully steam hauled!
Loved the composition on this one even though it lacks a little quality in larger formats. It was also a problematic shot to process. The subtle light on the majority of the shot contrasting with the blinding white of the steam was difficult to balance well and the colour too.
I've done tinkering and need to move on to new things I think.
Were I forced to choose, of all the Dennis Dart variants, I guess these would have to be my personal favourites. The proportion looks right and the engine size (Cummins 5.9 litre 6BTA) is about right for such a bus IMHO. I'm probably in a minority here, but I actually like this style of Arriva livery too!
The bus, T527 AOB (along with a sister vehicle) had stood spare / lain idle at Arriva's Macclesfield premises for nearly twelve months but then, being declared surplus to requirements, were sold off. Before departure they were both daubed with a livery 'spoiling' black band around the waste which didn't half look a mess. After a few hours hard work with a 'special concotion' that wouldn't impress the 'cosh' folks (!), the bus is now back looking tidy, newly re- MoT'd and ready for sale.
From the North Western Illinois Chapter of the NRHS field trip down to the TP&W on Saturday, March 12, 1982 I took this view of the dispatcher at his desk. Of course I never recorded his name at the time, but through the ex-TP&W employees on the Fans of the TP&W group on Facebook I learned that this is Kaywin Burroughs, the Chief Dispatcher at that time. Not much was going on this day, at least during daylight. But Kaywin was dressed up in what could have been his best shirt as he answered the phone.

Dispatcher of the day at the new mega coaster Kondaa.
Kondaa
Kondaa is a steel roller coaster at Walibi Belgium in Wavre, Belgium. First unveiled at the IAAPA 2018 Expo, the coaster marks the end of a three-year park investment plan and upon opening became the tallest and fastest coaster in the Benelux region, as well as the park's ninth coaster. Kondaa features a top speed of 113.0 km/h, a notable 15 airtime moments, and the world's first non-inverting cobra roll element.
Walibi officials shortlisted three major European suppliers for the project, eventually contracting Intamin to build the coaster.
In August 2019, land clearing began on the site, indicating that construction was due to start shortly. An existing building behind the park was also razed in early 2020. Following the construction of the station, the coaster went vertical in July 2020, with track being installed at a rapid pace. The signature non-inverted cobra roll and the ride's tallest lift hill were topped off and completed in early August, with the ride layout being completed the following month. Thematic work would begin to take shape around the area, and in late November the ride's then-unannounced name was divulged from the newly constructed entrance sign; Kondaa. This was later confirmed by Walibi themselves.
On December 17, 2020, Kondaa passed its first full-circuit test run, and Walibi soon began releasing teasers on their YouTube channel Kondaa's first onride POV was released on May 5, 2021, and following an easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the park made plans to debut the ride on May 8, 2021. Kondaa premiered on the planned date to great public anticipation.

The CSX AC dispatcher has been told by the CSX L811 crew what work they have and he advises them of the plan as they depart North Yard for Acworth.
The GWR dispatchers look pleased with themselves as a Cross Country HST departs Taunton with a service to Glasgow Central on 16th April 2019.
Well, Part One was going well, with the northbound freight, Q642, rolling north through Dyer and getting on the Elsdon Sub, clearing the Monon. Then things started going downhill. Barr Yard started hedging on taking Q642 into the yard, meaning that with Q643 and Q642 both out on the Elsdon Sub, there was no route for the Hoosier State. With the belief that the passenger train was still in the hands of the UP, the RB dispatcher cut Q643 loose, sending him down the Monon Sub to get in the clear at Shelby, the only decent siding between Munster and Reynolds. Here's the southbound rolling through Dyer at about the scheduled time for the passenger train. Looks like he would make Shelby without delaying the Hoosier State, Then oops.....
nilapitan ako ng dispatcher ng SAT sabi nya picturan ko daw ito dahil same owner na rin daw sila ng JRMS, another Santiaguel bus :)

45035 approaches Derby platform 4 with a southbound express, 3rd April 1976.
Locomotive History
45035 was built at Derby Works in 1961 as D44 and allocated to Cricklewood MPD. It would spend the majority of the 1960’s allocated to Midland Main Line depots before becoming a Holbeck engine in the 1970’s. Originally built with vacuum train brakes it was fitted with dual (air/vacuum) train brakes during a classified repair at Derby Works in October 1975. It survived in traffic for another five years before being withdrawn in May 1981, surplus to requirements. It was quickly dispatched, being broken up at its place of birth (Derby Works) in November 1981.

This is the dispatcher lady at the Central Heriberto Duquesne sugar mill. She keeps track of the trains going back and forth to the acopio, as well as making sure the mill always has a supply of loads to dump. She also sees that empties get inspected and returned to the acopio. Her office is in a tower overlooking the yard. Photo by Joe McMillan.
The remains of the Speyside built, two masted schooner "Dispatch" of 1888 at Purton.
After trading all around the globe for many years "Dispatch" was cut down for use as a towed barge sometime between 1936 and 1940. Her masts and rigging were removed along with her carved figurehead which still exists in a private collection. By 1958 she was laid up at Sharpness and in 1961 she was beached at Purton.
Sadly three separate arson attacks in the 1980s destroyed both her bow and stern. She remains however, one of the most striking hulks on the Purton foreshore.

From June 1993: while going through hours of recorded rail radio traffic, I found this exchange between the CSX SM Dispatcher who was controlling the former B&O in the Middletown Ohio area. This dispatcher had a reputation for no nonsense. D744 (a symbol today used for a Lima south local) apparently didn't have a working engine radio and had to have another train relay all of the messages.
