Wheeling & Lake Erie dispatcher Earl Johnson checks the train lineup as he works at his desk in the railroad's headquarters building in Brewster, Ohio. The console above the train sheet was used to control the railroad's centralized traffic control system that was then in operation between Spencer and Bellevue. (Scanned from a slide)

Union Pacific dispatched a Customer Special through Salt Lake City, Utah on May 20, 2024. Symbol SESML 16 carried a large transformer, en route from East St. Louis, Illinois to Moss Landing, California. The train originated in Mcgehees, Alabama, handled by HLI Rail Rigging Logistics, and shipped by CSX to East St. Louis. The load is mounted to a 12-axle, low boy type flat car. The other seven random freight cars were included for buffering and braking.

This older Citroen Dispatch (known as the 'Jumpy' in most European countries) from Ireland was parked at Birchanger Green Services. The van was originally registered to County Wexford, located in far south-eastern Ireland.

A recently completed code 3 based on a NOREV 1:43rd scale model of a Citroen Jumpy known as a Dispatch in the UK. The model is of a North Yorkshire Police Van. The model comes in white so a lot of preparation work and repainting time has been saved.

The dash I have converted over to RHD using plastic card which has also been used to make the air vent on the roof. Oval lightbar has been aquired fro Cheshire999models via eBay. The decals have been drawn by me using Coreldraw X5 and printed out on waterslide decal paper on my HP Colour Laser printer.

Really pleased with the result.

Oman // Village Kumzar

Straat van Hormuz - Strait of Hormuz - Oman - Musandam

schiereiland Oman // Kumzar - Musandam

Khasab (Arabic: خصب‎‎ Ḫaṣab) is a city in an exclave of Oman bordering the United Arab Emirates. It is the local capital of the Musandam peninsula and has frequently been dubbed the "Norway of Arabia" because of its extensive fjord-like craggy inlets and desolate mountainscapes

Access to the area by land was virtually impossible until a modern coast road was built, which allows fast access from the United Arab Emirates, making Khasab a popular weekend destination for people living in the Emirates. The new road also allows access to the village of Tawi, where prehistoric drawings of boats, animals and warriors can be seen in the rock face.

Khasab has an interesting trading position, which hinges on its proximity to Iran. Iranians export sheep and goats into the local port, from where the animals are dispatched to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in trucks. On their return trip to the Islamic Republic, the sailors load their boats up with electronic goods and American cigarettes, arriving in Khasab after sunrise and leave before sunset to conform with Omani immigration laws. Since the trading is illegal under Iranian law, they must avoid the Islamic Republic's coastguard as well as all other shipping in the busy waters of the Strait of Hormuz.

The rule books and train DS manuals say, train orders shall be as brief as possible, clear, concise, and not confusing or misleading. Instead of issuing separate meets making additional work, this was issued as one. Anyone want to comment on what will happen if just one of the involved trains falls down? The chief DS and Rules Examiner made sure we all got a copy as what not to do. Interesting thing is everything clicked and it worked. Bill,George and Don, I want to really hear your thoughts on this piece of work.

I'd chased the H DMOWQM1 06A from Hamilton down the Des Moines Branch to Maxon. They were talking to the dispatcher somewhere around Bussey, noting that they were very short on time but thought they could make Paris Ave. in Ottumwa for the crew change. Unfortunately, they would run out of time here at Cargill Spur. just west of Chillicothe.

The train behind them at Maxon [C BTMPHP0 15A] would have to wait for a pair of westbounds to clear the plant so that they could take Main 1. That crew was instructed to tie their train down beside the DMO and take it into Ottumwa because the relief crew wasn't qualified west of town. They'd get cabbed back to their train later and finally go through town after a 3 hour delay...

Hard day at work ._. IRL and in game. In life, I get longer hours. In GTA Online, I get bad runs all night long >_>

Made $500,000+ yesterday easy from tons of Dispatch missions. Tonight it was $200,000+ because new people ran in w/loud guns, dying everywhere. Stealth was impossible. Now I understand why I annoyed people when I started.

I wish I was talking about real life with that money.

"Oh woe is me, 200,000 dollars a day" :P

Sculpture by Benevenuto Cellini crafted in Florence for the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Displayed in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence.

The depth and texture is what caught my eye, but it does have a distinctly festive and New Years look about it!

Greater Manchesters third Leyland Titan storms through Piccadilly bus station in April 1985 having arrived from Stockport. Of the 190 Titans originally ordered only fifteen were to materialise and this one was the first of five to be powered by Leylands TL11 engine. Indeed the five were the first buses in the GMT fleet to feature a turbocharged engine, the remaining ten having Gardners naturally aspirated 6LXB unit. Initially allocated to Birchfields Road garage it was soon dispatched to Stockport to join the other four so as to keep all the Leyland powered vehicles together. The Gardner vehicles would later settle at the tiny garage at Glossop after briefly working five apiece from Birchfields and Oldham.

The Grand Canyon Regional Communication Center (GCRCC) is the primary 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point and dispatch operation for Grand Canyon, the Town of Tusayan, Arizona, Tusayan Fire Department, and portions of Coconino County.

The 9-1-1 Center which operates 24/7, 365 days a year and is staffed by eight dispatchers and one center manager, provides dispatch services for all of Grand Canyon as well as for Montezuma Castle National Monument, Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma’s Well, Tonto National Monument, Petroglyph National Monument, and Pecos National Historical Park.

Did you know GCRCC processes approximately 8,000 calls for service each year? A ‘Call for Service’ is an event called in or received by the 9-1-1 dispatch center that requires documentation by a dispatcher and that may need a response or action taken by Rangers, Dispatch, EMS, Fire, Search and Rescue, or other NPS personnel, such as the maintenance staff, wildlife staff, etc. Each year, around 40,000 total phone calls are answered and over 700,000 radio calls are answered/monitored from the park's radio system.

Hoek van Holland 24-7-2024

It seems as though every time I get close to Bristol temple Meads Station someone decides to put on a visit by a steam train. Off to see the Lovely Lillput and was, fortuitously, early and had the chance to see this train pull in and depart for Exeter. Steam specials are becoming so frequent now that it won't be long before the rail network will be fully steam hauled!

Loved the composition on this one even though it lacks a little quality in larger formats. It was also a problematic shot to process. The subtle light on the majority of the shot contrasting with the blinding white of the steam was difficult to balance well and the colour too.

I've done tinkering and need to move on to new things I think.

Were I forced to choose, of all the Dennis Dart variants, I guess these would have to be my personal favourites. The proportion looks right and the engine size (Cummins 5.9 litre 6BTA) is about right for such a bus IMHO. I'm probably in a minority here, but I actually like this style of Arriva livery too!

The bus, T527 AOB (along with a sister vehicle) had stood spare / lain idle at Arriva's Macclesfield premises for nearly twelve months but then, being declared surplus to requirements, were sold off. Before departure they were both daubed with a livery 'spoiling' black band around the waste which didn't half look a mess. After a few hours hard work with a 'special concotion' that wouldn't impress the 'cosh' folks (!), the bus is now back looking tidy, newly re- MoT'd and ready for sale.

From signage:

The Dispatch House of St. Francis' Third Order was built in the mid-18th century. Nasoni designed both the building and some of the carving used to decorate the inside. The underground floor houses the Brothers' graveyard. The Church, which was begun in 1795, was Oporto's first neo-classical church. The original drawings were by Antonio Pinto de Miranda and a number of famous artists contributed to the interior.
