- The PALACE HOTEL [1911] situated on the south side of Great Eastern Highway is in the left background of pic.

- The historic Fraser's open cut gold mine [c.1888] is located directly next to the township of Southern Cross, just south of the Great Eastern Highway. The mine was not greatly productive [compared to Coolgardie & Kalgoorlie-Boulder mines] & has since been abandoned & is currently full of water [see Google Street View link below].
