Surrounded by snow - my mind takes me back to last summer, and this very special place in Alaska's boreal forest. The table may be heaped with snow now - but in two months it will re-emerge, and Doc. Doolittle and I will be there to witness the first signs of summer.

It has been nine days since a big 7.0 earthquake hit my beloved state of Alaska. We have had over 2,000 aftershocks - with one hitting this morning that registered over a 5 on the Richter scale. Sensitive animals are still on edge - as are homeowners with buckled ceilings, cracked wallboard, and broken pipes. I have a daughter in a hard hit area, with water that resembles mud. Still, life goes on. Roads were quickly repaired (which was a monumental task) - stores are open - schools are re-opening this week, and folks are trying their best to "get back to normal." Lets hope that Mother Natures settles down soon.

*(It is hard to believe that when large earthquakes take place - even mighty mountains move, and trees actually shake. That is what I tried to convey with this whimsical image.)
Removed some street lights using resynthesizer healing plugin.
