I've photographed this tree a few times because I like it's shape and the way it has built-in composition. It got hit in a lightning storm last year so its shape is even more interesting now.

It's a fascinating thing to experiment with photographs in order to see where they can be taken during the editing process. When I was working on this one the combination of snow on the branches and a texture that had already been applied to it suddenly burst into what looked like blossoms ... with a couple of clicks it just sort of exploded like spray insulation.

That type of editing process has a name: "Fly by the seat of your pants."

(But you might need a seatbelt.)

The autumn season has ended, and there is a definite chill in the air when I awaken each morning. The temperatures have been hovering in the mid-twenties, and frost covers the ground, as I stand at the kitchen stove whipping up a hearty breakfast for Doc and myself. For the most part, canoes and larger crafts have been put away, in favor of completing the final chores needed for the long winter that looms ahead. I say a sad goodbye to my favorite season, and look toward the sky for the first snow flakes that will herald a new season.

I love the following quote, so thought I'd share it with the few that may have never read it before . . .

Shanghai in the fog.

We did not have the best weather throughout most of our trip.

This created a bit of a photographic challenge.

On this particular evening, Shanghai's business district Skyline was in the clouds most of the time.

A bit of fun and practise with Photoshop on this one.
