After a grey, wet day there was a small patch of light at sunset

"It is not unusual to hear media weather reporters discuss the marine layer as if it were synonymous with the fog or stratus it may contain, but this is erroneous. In fact, a marine layer can exist with virtually no cloudiness of any kind, although it usually does contain some. The marine layer is a medium within which clouds may form under the right conditions; it is not the layers of clouds themselves."

Taken some weeks ago in the rain.

Love the diffuse and soft

I want to take another type of picture as I have done. Trying. That I find exciting for me😊and of course as usual😊

Clearly seen is the tomial tooth, used to dispatch their victims, by severing the spinal cord. Also note the cones in their nostrils used to diffuse the air velocity in high speed stoops.

In the wonderful Mount Stewart garden, County Down, Northern Ireland. I used a small diffuser.

We're don't know which side of our families of origin took such loving care of this pocket watch through the years. The inscribed date on the inner cover reads April 1920.

I experimented with apertures, extension tubes, and focal points, and had a fine time while it rained. I had intended to add it to Macro Mondays last Monday until I noticed that I had entered an older macro two years ago.

Thanks for looking, and for your faves ;)

Wednesdays / Miércoles : Macro or close-up

Ultra thin layer of fog slightly diffusing the sky as the moon was rising over Leonberg, Germany.

Another photo of Twenty mile river. The high clouds diffused the light from Anchorage and the northern lights. The milky way was peeking through the last bit of clear sky.

Went a little abstract this week. Used a piece of paper to diffuse the light source and create the contrast needed to light the diagonal.

A friend has the hobby of searching at the margins of the water for little treasures such as this tiny glass vase, which she gave to me.

I note from a label underneath the base that it was originally used for diffuser oil.

It's just the right size to hold a few small flowers from our garden all year round in memory of our daughter, Clare.

Taken on our my recent Flickrcation in Sechelt during our one rainy day. Loved the intensity of the colours in the diffused light.

I came across a diffuser filter in the loft that I've had for many years and forgotten about, so just had to have a play.

The Saffron-crowned Tanager (Tangara xanthocephala) is a breathtaking subject, and capturing it at La Minga Ecolodge near Cali, Colombia, was a rewarding challenge. This Andean gem, perched elegantly on a mossy branch, stands out with its vivid saffron-yellow crown and iridescent turquoise plumage. The soft, diffused light filtering through the cloud forest canopy provided an ideal setting to highlight the bird’s intricate feather details and the rich textures of its surroundings. This image represents the delicate balance of nature and the beauty of photographing wildlife in its natural habitat.

For this shot, I used the Canon RF 100-500mm lens at its maximum focal length of 500mm, allowing me to capture the tanager from a respectful distance without disturbing its behavior. A shutter speed of 1/500 sec froze the subtle movements of the bird, while an aperture of f/6.7 ensured a creamy background that isolates the subject beautifully. ISO 800 balanced the low light conditions, retaining vibrant colors and sharp details. These technical choices reflect my approach to bird photography—blending precision and respect for the natural world to create images that tell a story.

I seriously hope I look this good when I am seventy two years old (and counting). This is the original first Chevrolet Corvette from 1953. From what I have read, it didn't exactly set the world on fire when first released. The first year saw only 300 made, and they didn't all sell. Not great or particularly sporting to drive, mainly due to only having a straight six cylinder engine and a 2 speed automatic transmission. And it only came in one colour - Polo White with a red interior.

But, it did look so wonderful for the era, and it is where the Corvette started.

I cannot wait to 'drive' this one!

A 1/18th scale model 1953 Chevrolet Corvette C1 by model maker AUTOart. This is one of only two pre-owned models in my ever growing set. A little hard to find now as they were released many years ago around 2004 and in limited numbers. I'm very happy to have it in my collection!

A ten image focus stack taken and processed with the Canon R10, RF 100-400 zoom lens and shot in a mix of diffused natural daylight and warm white LED lighting.

I walked out of our accommodation with camera in one had and dog in the other in a hurry completely forgetting my tripod.

So this is a sunrise nine image panorama hand held , I`ll leave you to be the judge here .

Well, actually, I ran out of time ;) This is my last-minute attempt, photographed last night, no fuss handheld, after numerous attempts of photographing through the peephole of a "magic wand kaleidoscope" that comes with transparent, round plastic sticks that are filled with liquid and floating, glittery stuff that creates the typical patterns when put into the kaleidoscope. Here's a link to the Big River so you can see what it looks like:

It almost worked, but only almost. So I grabbed the nail enamel I bought for the theme, and made a smiley but it looked a little to diffuse, so in the end, I settled for a colourful heart that I painted onto the underside of a white espresso cup (the heart is still there) and then used a toothpick to mix the colours, kind of in a clumsy "wet in wet icing" style.

Exposure metering was set to "HI". I made minimal adjustments in post to make the colours pop a little more than they already did, and slightly brightened the background in the corners where the concave shape of the cup's underside had created a slight vignetting. That's it.

The heart's size is 2x2 cm / 0,78x0,78 inches.

HMM, Everyone, and have a nice week ahead!

P.S. I'm busy today and will catch up with you tonight.
