The iconic little house used by Australian band Midnight Oil for the cover image on their 1987 album release 'Diesel and Dust'.

Very much a photographer magnet for those passing by Burra in South Australia. My take is very different from what Ken Duncan took for the album cover back in the day consequentially making this little ruin very famous..

Die AKN kann man durchaus Diesel S-Bahn nennen, allerdings in einem ländlichen Raum, was das Ganze durchaus reizvoll macht.

My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. Man-made light versus nature’s darkness–––light and shadow interpreting minimalist settings in black and white. To see more in this series, check out Cover Of Darkness.

Early on in the COVER OF NIGHT series, I shot a couple gas stations. They were not initially the type scene I was looking to capture, but when I came across one late at night, bright and isolated in the darkness, it was impossible for me to resist, so I continue to shoot them. I have now shot enough that they have become a series-within-the-series. For a look at them as a collection, check out, Gas Stations

I like how this light yellow Mercedes-Benz (W123) from decades ago distinguishes itself from the colorless group of modern cars in the background.

To me it seems a bit odd to consider this as an old car even though it is. It might be because these were so commonly recognizable from the time I was a young adult. Its production lasted 11 model years which seems almost like forever, and their durability assured their presence on the roads for many years thereafter.

Notice that there are two Mercedes Benz autos in this photo. In addition to the subject yellow one there’s a white one sitting in traffic, visible between the old Benz and the traffic light pylon. Covering up the front end of the old one, it still looks very much like a Mercedes Benz. Do the same to the white one and suddenly that car becomes a bit more generic and anonymous, not as immediately recognizable as a Mercedes Benz. That’s a priceless quality possessed by the older model and not so much by the newer one.

Just off the King's Road in London was this lovely first generation Sierra hatchback in totally original condition, right down to its reg. plates and wheeltrims!

Mk 1 Sierras have all but disappeared from our roads, so I was extremely lucky to find one that was not only in great shape, but also the scarce diesel variant!
