Pilgrims come from all over the buddhist world to visit the Mahbodhi temple, this group is circumambulating the temple.

The mark of true devotion! I just had to snap pic of India's well-worn winter bike pants. She and Craig from Revolution Cycles were on WORT 89.9 FM Access Hour last Mon (12/8/08) talking about Winter Cycling. The show is archived online in case you want to check it out.

I admired the We Are All Mechanics patch on her bag and told her I was looking forward to earning my own when I take the WAAM bike maintenance classes with her and Ali in January. She dug around in her bag for a second and handed one over to me. Gotta make good on my promise to be an ace student now!

The man is 72 years old. Every morning he circumambulates the stupa doing a prostration at every step.

Welcome to a night in the office from hell.

It’s 1983 and in an abandoned workplace in the Midlands, two solitary clerical workers sit down at their desks to begin a routine night shift. But as the evening creeps into the night, a confidential file is accidentally opened and a quietly horrifying secret is unleashed. A secret that’ll soon turn their lives of rotas, packed lunches and fag breaks violently upside down and the workers, against each other.

A fantasy thriller with a pounding 1980s soundtrack, Stoke-on-Trent’s Potboiler Theatre invite you to a world of ruthless ambition, desperate escapism and deeply held desires: a world of Devotion.

Devotion was supported with funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council. With thanks also to New Vic Theatre, Mitchell Arts Centre and Moonbrushed Media.

It was Sunday, and the church was packed, so Mass spilled out onto the plaza outside, and the sermon was broadcast over the loudspeakers. The crowd remained thick despite the gathering of storm clouds.

I spent a lovely weekend singing w/ Krisha Das and documenting the Heart of Devotion Retreat at the Garrison Institute. #kirtan #yoga #bhakti

Slow mo in one frame - a little yellow, bobbing on the steps, till it disappeared into the distance, into the crowd....

Thaipusam is celebrated by Hindus of Tamil descent. Every year over a million devotees flock to the temple in Batu Caves just outside of Kuala Lumpur.

Instead of the kavadi, other devotees carry a pot of milk (called a palkuddam) as an offering. Women especially but not exclusively.

All will carry them up the 272 steps described in earlier posts.

(I like this one a lot. The balustrade ornaments lined up in his direction, the negative space, he in isolation from the crowd, the bokeh adding a halo effect.

And if you look carefully, a spot of hair on his shirt - his head was shaved earlier for this devotion - delicious detail to me!)

The most well known temple in Taiwan, the Mengjia Longshan Temple was built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian as a gathering place for Chinese settlers. Located in the old village part of Taipei, Wanhua District, this temple has stood the test of time and lasted through several natural disasters and wars.

During World War II, the temple was badly damaged by American bombers during the Raid on Taipei after an accusation the Japanese were hiding arms inside the temple.

Since the construction of the temple, Taipei residents have continuously renovated and improved the temple and the surrounding grounds, with the temple coming to represent the pride of Taiwanese temples and worship houses, worshipping a mixture of Buddhist, Taoist, and deities like Mazu.
