"The MORE device will be a simple, inexpensive hand-held device that is portable and pocket-sized. It must be custom-fitted into the patient’s mouth and be compressed between the tongue and the roof of the mouth against a predetermined mechanical resistance. Means to measure, adjust and fix this resistance must be provided. Compression will be achieved via isometric exertion of the tongue either superiorly or unilaterally and will be repeated on a regular routine. The device must provide feedback to the user by reporting the success, not progress, of each compression. Ideally, the MORE device should be low-tech and ergonomically friendly to all potential users, which include patients and their associated clinicians. Materials used must be biocompatible and MRI-compatible, while degradation products due to wear and tear must be non-toxic and safe for ingestion. The overall design should provide sufficient comfort within the limits of patients’ oral sensitivity and tolerance. The immediate purpose of the final product will be for research. Should the results be promising, it may be extended to therapeutic use."

What are Transcatheter Heart Valve Replacement Devices?
THVR are aimed at relieving the stenosis of the native valve and creating a functioning valve that can be delivered via a catheter-based system on the beating heart, without the need for a heart–lung machine or sternotomy. Transcatheter valves can be implanted within the native aortic valve via the femoral artery, the left ventricular apex or, less commonly, the axillary artery.

The University of Iowa, Museum of Art has the "original" of this artwork. Jasper Johns made the painting reproduced as a puzzle, and his painting is called "Device Circle". I believe the title refers to the stick attached near the center of the painting that made a circular mark in the paint when it was pivoted around its axis. I found two copies of the puzzle printed 90 degrees from each other, and following the pattern of the puzzle design, I alternated strips from puzzle A and puzzle B. Parts of the stick from both puzzles appear in the work so I call my work "Circle Device", which I mean to mean a clock. My original was made in 1984, and this copy was made in 2008 (of course when you make one of these, you make another nearly identical one as well, but I choose not to think of them as a pair or a diptych.)

The Space Shuttle Endeavour rests atop NASA's Shuttle Carrier Aircraft in the Mate-Demate Device (MDD) at the Dryden Flight Research Facility (later redesignated the Armstrong Flight Research Center), Edwards, Calif., shortly before being ferried back to the Kennedy Space Center, Fla. Endeavour landed at 1:57 p.m. (PDT) May 16, 1992, marking the completion of the new orbiter's first mission in space during which the crew of seven rendezvoused with the Intelsat VI satellite, attached a booster motor, and redeployed it into a high geosynchronous orbit. Endeavour and its crew were launched on a planned 7-day mission 7 May 1992, but the landing was delayed two days to allow extra time to rescue Intelsat and complete space station assembly techniques originally planned.
