So, I was inspired (as always) by Ch'ng's Kiah Kiean... he posted recently about using a graphite holder and huge pieces of graphite.
Well, huh? Imagine that. And so I walk over to the local art supply store (mish mish) and there they were.... on a lowly bottom shelf. Amazing. I can't wait to start using these. I wonder if Cretacolor knows that their product is going to leap off the shelves now that it's endorsed by Ch'ng Kiah Kiean?
If you know me, you know how messy I am. And I hate graphite b/c of the mess. Just like charcoal, I think. But I also love ambitious, broad lines that 2B graphite can give (and also how much like charcoal it can be).

Operation Bishop investigators raided The American Legion in Port Isabel Thursday afternoon seizing 27 gambling devices and $606 in currency.
The establishment, located at 819 S. Garcia St, was paying illegal amounts of cash to its patrons. The property owner for the building remains under investigation. No arrests were made.
“The American Legion had been warned numerous times and were provided an opportunity to previously close its illegal gambling operation,” District Attorney Luis V. Saenz said. “Yet, this establishment remained open. They were blatantly breaking the law.”
The District Attorney’s Office has advertised in the newspaper, sent out notices, advised owners and patrons and conducted numerous media interviews about what is deemed illegal-gambling activity as pertains to eight-liner and sweepstakes establishments.
According to state law and the Attorney General, eight-liner and sweepstakes businesses that give cash prizes of $5 or more, even if some or all proceeds benefit a non-profit/charity, are deemed an illegal-gambling operation. It is estimated that the eight-liner/sweepstakes industry generates at least $300 million annually.
Operation Bishop – the culmination of an 18-month criminal investigation of illegal gambling in Cameron County – began raids of illegally operated eight-liner and sweepstakes businesses in April.

This is a photograph from the 1st running of the Carbury GAA 10KM Run which was held in Derrinturn, Carbury, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 28th July 2013 at 12:00. The race was organised by the GAA club and sponsored by various businesses in the locality. The race was very well organised with excellent stewarding and support. Well done to everyone involved.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 60 participants
Weather: There was hot July sunshine for the duration of the race. There was little or no breeze.
Course: The race starts and finishes at Carbury GAA clubhouse. The race starts and heads southwards along the Sli na Slainte to the main Edenderry Road (R403) at Windmill Cross and proceeds along 'The Back Road' to the Grand Canal at Ticknevin Bridge where the course turns sharply and back to head northwards along the Bog Road to meet the R403 again. Finally for the last 2 KM the race passes through the westerly end of Derrinturn village before following the road to Carbury GAA for the finish. Overall the route is reasonably flat with the only significant rise at the Canal bridge near 5KM.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments including soup and sandwiches in the GAA Clubhouse afterwards.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Over the last couple of years, the Arsenal footballer Emmanuel Eboue has been accused of diving, feigning injury, shirking, mouthing off, failing to control his temper and being not very good at football. And while there have been many occasions when these accusations have been justified, he has of late become a scapegoat for many Gooners struggling to explain the miserable season that has been endured so far.
I think that this is going a bit far but I suspect that only when Eboue becomes the next Lionel Messi will some of the whingers belt up about him. Thus far, mere positive thought on my part has failed to effect this transformation, so I have built the Eboue Device you see here.
In its quiescent state, the device is nothing more than a circuit board on which Eboue's squad number is displayed as a pattern of LEDs. Once activated, however, it emits a high-intensity beam of Ebouitron particles and these particles are known to induce a significant peformance enhancement in any previously mediocre footballer from the Ivory Coast wearing the displayed number on the back of an Arsenal shirt. I will ensure that the device will be activated for every Arsenal game in which Eboue features from now on.
I hope they don't change his squad number next season. The LEDs are soldered in and these widgets are £4.99 a pop from Maplins.
This is a photograph from the Jingle Bells 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland on Saturday 6th December 2014 at 11:00. The race is organised annually by Donore Harriers Athletic Club from Chapelizod and who have their club-house right outside the gates of the Phoenix Park. The 'Device to Root Out Evil', also known as the Upside Down Church, an art installation by NY artist Dennis Oppenheim. Ramsay neighbourhood of Calgary.
During a recent exploration to Kepler22b, an exoplanet from the Kepler-16 binary star system, Boris Chimp 504 found some metallic objects on its surface. Though the origin of these objects are totally unknown, it's probably a piece of technology from an extraterrestrial civilization. Boris has sent these objects in an hyperspace capsule to the Vladivostok Space Center, on Earth.
It is believed that it's a part of a machine, a mechanism or a device of some kind. Recent investigations on the objects lead to believe that it is an interface to control the position and orientation in space and time of something bigger, a spaceship maybe.
These objects are being presented in a series of interactive installations called "Non Human Device".

It creates an inner experience that begins with one person recalibrating their inner perception and transitions into a collective experience of a pulsating club in deep space, while questioning deep-seated desires of our society.

A parking meter is a device used to collect money in exchange for the right to park a vehicle in a particular place for a limited amount of time. Parking meters can be used by municipalities as a tool for enforcing their integrated on-street parking policy, usually related to their traffic and mobility management policies.
Parking adjacent to 'The Stone Pony' in Asbury Park, New Jersey. All this is gone and has been replaced with a centralized digital parking system.
The Stone Pony, located in Asbury Park, New Jersey, is one of the world's best known music venues. It is known as a starting point for many musicians, first and foremost for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, who were the house-band for much of the mid-seventies, but also for New Jersey natives Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa, Jon Bon Jovi, and Bam Bam Bigelow (who worked there as a bouncer before his days as a professional wrestler), and Massachusetts native actor/musician "Miami" Steve Van Zandt who was the first guitarist, producer and manager of the Asbury Jukes. According to the vice president of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Robert Santelli, "the club has already earned its place in history as one of rock 'n' roll's great venues. Most rock critics and historians that I come in contact with on a regular basis feel that The Stone Pony is one of the greatest rock clubs of all time."
