This is a photograph from the 14th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 2nd August 2013 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 180 participants
Weather: Whilst there was a threat of thundery showers the evening was dry and humid with temperatures around 18C. The runners had a breeze in their faces for the first 2 km but this turned to a tail breeze for the remainder of the race.
Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards.

But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

The Lidl Run Kildare Events 2013 were held at the Curragh Racecourse, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 12th May 2013. There were three events: a 10KM, a half marathon, and a full marathon. This is a selection of photographs which includes all events. The photographs are taken from the start and finish of the marathon, the finish of the 10KM, and the finish of the half marathon. Due to the large numbers participating we did not manage to photograph everyone - which was not helped by the weather. Congratulations to Jo Cawley and her RunKildare crew for another great event. The weather didn't dampen the spirits of the many happy participants.

Participants: There were approximately 3,000 participants over the 3 race events - there were runners, joggers, and walkers participating.
Weather: A cold breezy morning with heavy rain at the start. The weather dried up for the 10KM and the Half Marathon races
Course: This is an undulating course with some good flat stretches on the Curragh.

The Northrop KD2R5 "Shelduck" basic training drone was used by the armed forces of at least several countries. The KD2R5 was used as a training device for ground-to-air gunnery practice. It was also used as a training target for surface-to-air missiles such as the Seacat, Tigercat, Redeye, Blowpipe, Sparrow, Chaparral, Hawk, Sidewinder and Nike.
I know it's not a great picture. I had my wide angle lens on, and this woman was pretty far out in the water, so I had to crop, and crop again to get close enough to see her, and the picture lost a lot of quality in the translation, but I think it's a funny kind of picture, and I like it. I know all about those natural flotation devices. I have a pair of my own.

The Filzer dB4LW-C Cyclocomputer is a piece of crap. If exposed to the heat of direct sunlight, the liquid crystal display will cause the screen to become completely black. In this photograph you can see that it cooled dow to the point where it is merely unreadable.

This is a photograph from the 3rd round of the Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 21st May 2014 at 20:00. This is the penultimate race in the 2014 series. The race follows the roads and trails around Belvedere and is a very testing 5KM route. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 350 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was the best yet with beautiful warm sunshine with little or no breeze. Perfect running conditions. The final round of the league will take place in one weeks time.

Poeple with cone-shaped heads were considered of more noble class, where as flatter heads were peasant-like.
A suspicious device was across the street from Toys R Us. They blocked off one of the entrances to the Lakeland Square Mall. Lakeland Police was first on scene. LPD doesn't have a bomb squad, so they had to wait on TPD's bomb squad to arrive. After close investigation, it was determined to be a low jack device beeping because the vehicle it was taken off of, was stolen.

This is a photograph from the finish of the 6th annual Kinnegad 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2015 which was held in the town of Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 8th July 2015 at 20:00. This race has firmly estbalished itself on the local race calender and yet again the race got wonderful support from local clubs and runners. The race is flat and fast and takes runners on traffic free route which includes 3KM on the local road 'Boreen Bradach'. The finish is on the famous main street of Kinnegad in front of Harry's Hotel. The race is organised by Coralstown Kinnegad GAA Club with proceeds from the race going towards the development of the club.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the Clane and Rathcoffey Parishes annual 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were held in Clane village, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 19th of October at 14:30. This year's event follows on from the very successful staging last year (see link to photographs below). The organisers offer both a 5km and 10km race and the event provides an opportunity for runners, joggers, and walkers of all abilities to take part in the event. The 5KM has a particular emphasis on family entrants. There was a wonderful atmosphere around the Village as both races started and finished on the main street outside the parish hall. The directly out-and-back routes provided an opportunity for a fast time on a good course and made for a great finish line atmosphere as runners, joggers, and walkers crossed the line. Great praise must be extended to the whole organising committee who organised a very efficiently run event. The events provide some runners with an opportunity to have a final race effort session in the week leading up to the Dublin City Marathon.

Overall Race Summary and Logistics
Participants: There were about 200 competitors combined in the two events.
Weather: The weather was very changeable for all of the events. During the 10KM race there was a heavy rain shower around the area of the 6KM mark but this didn't actually fall in the town. There was a strong headwind against competitors in the 10KM on the return part of the course between 6KM and 8KM.
Race Course:
This summary includes information on both the 5KM and 10KM races.
Both races start in the same place - just outside the Race HQ on the main street of the town. The races then proceed north eastwards out the Dublin Road towards Straffan and Celbridge. Just after 400 meters the races take a left up a small local road and proceeds along this road until it takes a tight left hand turn at the end of the lane at Capdoo goo.gl/maps/aPo26 (Google Streetview). The route proceeds until it shortly meets the Clane-Kilcock Road - College Road R407 goo.gl/maps/SGcPa. Both races will divert into Clane Business and Industrial Park goo.gl/maps/EQMf0 . The 5KM turns around and returns on the same route to the finish. However the 10KM race continues (taking a left) back onto College Road. Soon afterwards it passes the famous entrance to Clongowes Wood College on the right the race takes the next left (goo.gl/maps/zUhrJ) and brings runners onto the road known locally as the 'Long Road' (R408 Between Rathcoffey and Prosperous) at this point goo.gl/maps/fHKr2. The race proceeds northward until runners meet the Clane Kilcock Road once again. With the exception of the partial run into the Industrial Estate the race returns to the finish on the main street in Clane via the same route as the outward part of the route.
