This picture was in the DETROIT FREE PRESS! See that deranged hand desperately hanging onto Magglio's wrist? That's mine! Magglio was putting his arm around me, getting ready to take a picture, and TODD FREAKING JONES came over and had to try to be funny. "Dur hur, take a picture of me and Magglio!" he said. And then Maggs' bodyguard guy moved him along the line after Todd Jones was done being an idiot. I didn't get a picture with him because of Todd Jones. *grumble*

This park was opened in 2000 after the old Tiger Stadium (Briggs Stadium) had been the home of the Detroit Tigers since 1912. As with many of the other modern stadiums, it's built new to look old. The unique features of this park are the beer garden, the small ferris wheel, and the Chevrolet Fountain, dancing waters in center field. PacBell Park (now AT&T Park) in San Francisco opened at the same time, and seems much nicer.

No, he wasn't talking/jesturing to me. He was motioning to someone in the dugout, which is right in front of our seats.
I remember reading an interview with some old time baseball legend second baseman who said that there was no more terrifying site than that of the Georgia Peach preparing to slide. Cobb made it known that sharpening his spikes was part of the pregame ritual.
