Spent the most of this weekend runnning around the graveyard shootin' photos for AP art. But I finally found time to get over to George Roger's Park and get some good shots of the fishy-pool where I go swimming in the summertime. Took the film camera with me this time and tried my hand at black-and-white (which I will post once I've got it developed). Eeek. Film!

Earlier today, I saw a 25 yr old man. He died of a kayaking accident.
Later in the day, a friend of mine died of cancer. She was about my age.
Lately, I keep getting this feeling that it is not too far away for me either.

This grave is from the beginning of the 1930's. There's some rests of the village but right now nature is claiming back his place

On Sunday there were no trucks traveling along the motorway, as per the regulations on Sundays the trucks are stationary, it was traveling well. Instead, suddenly there it was, a truck used for transporting live animals. And inside, crammed together, pigs destined for slaughter. When I passed the truck, I could see their kind eyes, and I felt sad.
Then I called the traffic police, but they told me that they have special authorizations to travel even on Sundays, and that there was already a police patrol checking. I didn't see any patrol.
Domenica percorrendo l'autostrada non c'erano camion, come da regolamento la domenica i camion sono fermi, si viaggiava bene. Invece improvvisamente eccolo, un camion adibito al trasporto di animali vivi. E dentro, stipati, maiali destinati al macello. Quando ho superato il camion, ho potuto vedere i loro occhi buoni, e mi sono rattristata.
Poi ho chiamato la polizia stradale, ma mi hanno detto che hanno delle autorizzazioni speciali per viaggiare anche di domenica, e che c'era già una pattuglia della polizia a controllare. Io non ho visto nessuna pattuglia.

Of COURSE my favorite vacation every year, when we can do it, is New Orleans for Mardi Gras! SO many great memories down there! Even when it's NOT Mardi Gras, it's where I want to go! :)

It has been a long time since I've had a vacation! This was from a few years back when I was on a road trip driving through North Carolina and Virginia on the Blue Ridge Parkway among the most scenic roads across Smoky National Park to the Shenandoah National Park.
For some reason I was missing these and thought I'll open that folder in Lightroom and relive those memories a bit! After all, that's the first reason we photograph our lives to freeze moments in time so we can go down the memory lane whenever that seem distant!
