Maybe Albania, too?
I'll be gone for some of September, on another motorcycle trip (here's the first). This time, I'm going from Krakow, Poland to Montenegro and perhaps as far as Albania. I'll be taking a slightly different route down this time, probably going through Bosnia and then returning back to Krakow up along the coast of Croatia.
Traveling by motorcycle is all about compromises. I can only bring so much gear with my on a bike... no big lenses, and no huge tripods. I purchased a Benro A-069M8 Travel Angel tripod just for this trip. It folds down small enough (13") to fit perfectly in my tank bag. The stability isn't exactly superb with all 5 leg sections extended, but it's fine with 3 of them out... and something is better than nothing.
Some of the the other photography related items I'm taking:
-A boatload of batteries and memory cards.
-Drybag for my S90.
-Joby Gorillapod for my S90 (I'll probably mount this to the handlebars).
-Gisteq PhotoTrackr GPS (for geotagging my photos... unfortunately the GPS jack on my D90 broke, so I have to do it the hard way).
Very excited...
I am surprised that more use has not been made of destination displays to promote things other than pointless via points (Scatterburn via Golf Links - are the passengers in Seaton in any doubt that the bus won't turn left at the end of their road?). Service and fare changes, diversions, free wifi bank holiday service, there is so many options).
Stagecoach have now started promoting city fares on the 59 and 727 as seen here on 29006 at the temporary Guild St stop.

Yes I walked there. There used to be an official path, but I think it was closed due the path becoming dangerous in places. I just bundu bashed(struggled through the bush) till I came across the old path. I started the walk at about 2pm and got out at about 7:30pm. While watching the sunset I saw about 6 trawlers just off shore and I could hear them shooting seals.

Looks like Sasha's Lab will be visiting Canada. Duty calls.
Kagami will act as lead correspondent. Good thing she has her winter uniform on. Then again, it's designed for Japan's winters. Maybe there will only be indoor reports from Saskatoon.

Destinations weddings are a little more extravagant, more carefully planned, more descriptive and obviously more fun to shoot. This amazing couple hail from the UK, with Prachi deciding to get married in an Indian surrounding in remembrance of the roots of her ancestors.
A big thank you to Akriti, the Wedding Planner, for this awesome decoration and thoughtful planning.
Do keep a watch for more amazing venue pictures and images of the most down to earth couple here.

33405 takes a short interlude at the Hullbridge terminus of the 20. A walk a few yards beyond the bus would take you to the edge of the River Crouch. 25.10.21.
Running the final 200 yards of a late morning excursion, the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum's passenger train approaches Portland's Ocean Gateway Terminal, which serves as the station area for their trips. On the point this day is Monson Locomotive #3, a 1912-vintage, 0-4-4T Forney, which has been a workhorse for every owner she ever had. This image was captured during the 4th of July weekend in 2016 and finds #4 hauling an eclectic mix of 24" gauge passenger equipment including a combine, a coach, and a pair of open excursion cars, all of which were built in the shops at Edaville Railroad. Bringing up the rear is a historic, Maine caboose which came from the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad.
I'm busy getting my camera gear in order for a 3 week trip to Thailand. What's going in the bag you ask? I figure the16-35mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, and 70-200mm f/4 IS with the 1.4x tele extender should cover my bases without being too much gear. Unfortunately, I'm ditching the strobes for a few weeks.
In the background is my nifty new National Geograhic SLR backpack and in the foreground, some lovely Ardbeg Uigeadail. If you like peaty scotches, I highly recommend picking up a bottle or two. I'm actually a little worried that they won't have much good liquor in Thailand... but at least cheap beer and spicy food should be easy to come by.

My son's college graduation is fast approaching. He will be graduating in 2024 from Penn State with a BS in Railroad Transportation Engineering.
It occurred to me that my ability to do things with him will be limited after graduation. You lose the "breaks" in the real world outside of school. I also had a ton of vacation time to kill before the end of the year.
My HO layout is based on the original Genesee & Wyoming in Western NY. I attended (and graduated from) the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1991. During that time, I came to appreciate the G&W so I based my layout on it.
My son had never seen the inspiration behind the layout, so the days before Thanksgiving 2023 would give the chance to expose him to railfanning in Western NY and the G&W.
Our last shot of our RSR chase and of day 1 was the train arriving at Brooks Avenue Yard.
