While I was out on the beach along Lake Erie in Pennsylvania in December, the wind was insane and I found a group of birds desperately foraging in the grasses fighting this winds. Blowing snow and sand, grasses bending in the wind, as the birds tried to pull seeds from the tips of the plants. This small Tree sparrow braced as the winds whipped around it

"DESPERATE AND RAVENOUS... I'm so weak and powerless..."
Last Monday the sky remained desperately grey all day long and I had more or less given up the idea of bringing a cool shot from my West Coast trip back home.
Then , suddenly the sun burst out from under the clouds for a short time ...

Another wet day, so desperately short of photos to upload. Another 3 Barn Owl photos from the 18th. Still the only Barn Owl I have seen close this year so far, rather worrying as used to see several here by this time of year
Taken a few weeks ago of a rare red maple leaf laying of some weathered wood at a train crossing. Approximately 75% of the leaves have fallen without having turned there full autumn colour due to a lack of frost.
Between heavy showers, a very late-in-the-season Red Admiral unexpectedly appeared. The insect was trying to get some warmth on the window frame.
Man showing signs of sheer anguish as he sits outside the cathedral in Bacolod City, Philippines. Although he wasn't the main focus of my shot the sadness of the scene was a stark reminder that there are many people throughout the world in this situation. Some people did actually help this man.
In 2011, horn poaching reached record levels, mostly due to demand from China and Vietnam. In March 2013, some researchers suggested that the only way to reduce poaching would be to establish a regulated trade based on humane and renewable harvesting from live rhinos. The WWF however opposes legalization of the horn trade, as it may increase demand, while IFAW released a report by EcoLarge, suggesting that more thorough knowledge of economic factors is required in order to justify the pro-trade option.
I am not sure if making this trade legal is right or wrong, but other efforts have not really worked to be honest.
This is the only time I have photographed a Wild Rhino. I am not sure If I will ever see them again in the wild. But who ever reads this and you believe that Rhino horn helps with whatever is that you think it helps with, imagine if your fingers were cut for your nails cause that is all this is...Stop killing Rhinos!!!
Begging for money on a cold and damp street ... Probably has an alcohol and / or drug problem but he shouldn’t have to be on the streets ... Our politicians need to wake up and help people, a drop in centre would be a start ...

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A 'Fun for Friday' shot here on a day in the UK where we desperately need something to raise a smile about. Enjoy!
Ferrets are among the animals I always see at the wildlife park but they are hyperactive and taking photos is almost impossible. This one was hungry and that was the only reason why it stood still for a moment and looked at me. The food bowls were empty and apparently the ferret hoped that I could change that lamentable fact. I couldn't but the keeper arrived soon and the ferret world was in order again.

like in most countries there are also people begging for money or food in Nepal, but unlike in rich countries, these people have to beg for survival, so I it's normal that I give what I have
I have not even taken my camera out of it's case since Feb 19th. I have no mojo at all and with moving and being sick so long I totally lost the plot. The light here in the new place is horrible compared to what I am used to and I have no desire to find my footing for any indoor photos right now. I forced myself to go outside in the garden today to at least take one new shot for Bokeh Wednesday and this is it. I ended up getting 3 shots in total.. lol
Thank you to all my friends that have asked me how I am now feeling. I am feeling
much better now but Dave is still a bit sick and I am so afraid he will pass it back to me.. lol So far so good. What I need now is some nice warm weather and spring!!
Happy Bokeh Wednesday everyone :) xx

I don't much like them. they can be made smaller and less obtrusive.
I love comments. and I love invites to groups, and I try to comment back to commenters and to groups.
but........after I comment I may delete the big icons.
sorry.
